I was going to purchase a convertible at this dealership. I liked the car but it wasn’t my first pick. Due to Covid, I didn’t think I’d find my dream car. I was fully prepared to purchase the car on his lot More

Hello Mrs. Rhodes, First and foremost I sincerely apologize for anything that happened between you and my sales consultant. I just read the text exchange between you and Gary and it’s true he was upset with how this transaction went. We held the car as a courtesy for you without a deposit because you said you were coming on Saturday to sign up and give us your down payment. You never came in and left for Maine a day earlier than you said. We continued to work with you and asked for a deposit. You would only offer $500 when our required deposit on all Mercedes is $2000. You kept making excuses as to why you couldn’t. You and I first spoke on December 15th and we agreed to the figures on our 2023 C300 convertible. You told me it was the perfect car and exactly what you wanted with color and equipment. I agreed to all your requests, including holding it until December 28th, which was when you and your husband would be returning back from Maine. We also discussed you coming in on Saturday, December 17th to sign all paperwork and pay for the vehicle before leaving for Maine on December 18th. We both agreed that you were going to put some money down, and finance the balance for a short time with your credit union until a piece of property sold that you had under contract. So on Saturday, December 17th we were to contact you, receive your down payment, hold the vehicle until you returned, and lastly, your credit union would send us the balance the following week. We both agreed that this would all take place before you left for Maine. You told me you and your husband were wanting to drive up on Sunday or Monday,. The trip would take two-three days to drive the distance which is why you asked to complete everything on Saturday so you could leave on time knowing the car would be secure. You actually flew up on Saturday to Maine and never came in as agreed. All convertibles sell very fast and we want everyone to purchase the exact new Mercedes-Benz they want. I’m glad to find the right car and that everything worked out for you in the end. I will speak with Gary about how to better handle situations like this and he will learn from his mistakes. I hope you have a Merry Christmas up north. I see there’s a huge winter storm hitting the entire area so I hope you stay safe. If you purchased a Mercedes-Benz, we are happy to service it for you once you return. I have a wonderful service department with some highly trained technicians. Sincerely, Jeff Gann

Good Morning Jeff. I believe you have been lied to. First of all. I was never told $2000.00. I would have gladly done that. The dealership I ended up getting the car from, required a $5000 deposit which I gladly did. Gary told me that you required a $1000.00 deposit which I said was fine. I’m not sure where you’re even getting the number $500 from. I’ve never heard of a dealership requiring such a low deposit. When I first contacted Gary I made it very clear that I wanted an E450. He told me that you had two. One had a deposit on it and the other one was a beautiful color according to him. Actually, he told me it was his favorite color. I told him that I didn’t like the color. I told him that I had been looking everywhere for a white E4 50 in an all-wheel-drive with a blue top. When we realized that we couldn’t get the E450 we decided that we could live with it. As a matter of fact. When my husband asked me what I thought. I told him “it’s a car”, Gary was shocked. I made it very clear to Gary that we needed to leave first thing Saturday because we had to drive our other brand new vehicle home and get back to Maine because my father-in-law had some serious medical issues that we had to care for. I can show you text messages where I wanted to come in on Friday. Gary said he was off that day. I told him I wanted to come in and sign but he called me back and told me that he would lose the deal if I came in on Friday. On Saturday, I did just what I said and I gave him my credit card number. I authorized him to charge $1000 because that was the number that he said. Again, if he said $2000 I would’ve been fine with that. First thing Monday morning the car that I wanted became available. I understand that you held that car for me from Saturday at roughly 3:00 PM, when I gave you the deposit until Monday around noon time when I told you I was all set. I’d like to tell you that I feel bad but when a grown man acts like a child who didn’t get his own way. I don’t. Calling customers liars is not something I would expect out of a Mercedes dealership. We have already spoken to Mercedes Benz of Naples. The sales person their was so happy we got our dream car. His response was age appropriate and we are excited to do all of our maintenance with them. It’s funny that Gary accused me of lying yet he repeatedly lied to both you and I. Not to mention all of the negative things that he said about you and the company he works for.

One more thing Jeff. I would have bought the car last week but your company was still price gauging. I asked if I could pay sticker for it last Wednesday. He told me no. You told me no. The only way I could have bought it was to pay $7500.00 over sticker. You said I couldn’t buy it until Monday. That was the day you were discontinuing price gauging. If you sold at sticker like every other dealership. I’d be driving the C300 right now. Excuses, excuses.

Hi Jenae, I apologize for the delay with your tag work. It’s been just over 3 ½ months since your purchase and we have helped in every way possible with your purchase of a 2018 GLC. I even had our store in Atlanta help with a few things you complained about and gave you a free cargo cover. When we sell pre-owned vehicles, many of them have payoffs. We send the lender a payoff check by FedEx but many times, especially in the last two years, there’s a delay in receiving the title. We have an outside company that we pay to do all our tag work and registrations since we do so much business outside the state of Florida. We tag/reg paperwork was sent to Georgia and they asked for additional information which was delayed in getting to them. Later they rejected the paperwork again because they wouldn’t accept a notarized signature. We rarely have issues with any state regarding a notary and there was no excuse for rejecting this either. The paperwork has been re-sent to Georgia and this time should be corrected and meet their demands. Regarding the $3000 dollars mentioned in your post. That was your taxes you had to pay. I know we’ve spoken to you again today, 12/14/2022, and we expect the tag work to be fully completed before December 31st. I do apologize for the delay. We try our best to get tags as quickly as possible to all our of state customers. Unfortunately, there are many hands in the jar and not everything goes as quickly as planned. Thank you again for your purchase and I’m happy that the GLC is enjoyable for you. Sincerely, Jeff Gann GM

Hello Mr. Hazelhurst, Mercedes-Benz sent you and many others with affected vehicles a letter stating clearly what to do, how to do it, and what to expect. You purchased a 2011 ML from us and in the last six years, you have only used my service department for two other recalls, which we completed. This recall is for the brake booster. MBUSA sent a letter to everyone that had an older vehicle that is affected by this issue with clear instructions of what to do. In that letter is states to not drive your car. It says that MBUSA will pay to tow it to the nearest dealership so we could inspect it. After the inspection, it will be determined if the vehicle is safe to drive or isn’t. For those safe to drive, parts will be ordered and once the parts arrive we would contact you to schedule installation. If on the other hand, your 2011 ML isn’t safe to drive, then parts will be ordered, ML must remain here, and that Mercedes-Benz will reimburse you the expense of a rental car. Parts for the repair are not always available and some could take 30-60 days to arrive. This is why MBUSA is paying for a rental car versus us putting you in a loaner vehicle. Mercedes dealerships do not have enough loaners to have 10-15 loaned out for 30-60 days for this recall. This is why MBUSA is using rental car companies to help and thus reimbursing the customer directly. My manager in service tried his best to explain the recall and the process. We have had dozens of vehicles with the same recall with no issues. We are happy to have your 2011 ML towed to our store, free of charge to you, inspect the brake booster, then determine the safety, and finally order the parts to replace if needed. There’s a great chance you may not need a rental car and all of this is for nothing. However, without is inspecting your ML nothing can’t move forward. I’m personally calling you today to try to set that up. Thank you Jeff Gann GM
