My first visit to Mercedes-Benz of Eugene was a positive experience thanks to the stewardship of Sean in the service dept. The service writer was not honest with me about the problems with the car. He told me one thing when authorizing the amount, then changed his story when I came to pick up the car. I took my car to the dealer since my Mercedes model has a closed transmission. When dropping off the car, I said the transmission fluid was probably low. I was quoted $518 for transmission service, which I a closed transmission. When dropping off the car, I said the transmission fluid was probably low. I was quoted $518 for transmission service, which I approved. After a $195 transmission diagnosis and a subsequent $195 general mechanic diagnosis, my new quote included a new transmission, new brakes, new belts, and a handful of other suggested repairs. Some repairs could be delayed (a/c compressor). I picked up the car and took to a local/reputable repair shop and had repairs made there. The transmission was low in fluid. The front brakes were replaced, while the rear brakes were in good condition. The belts were also in good condition. For the completed repairs, I paid $895. For the same repairs, Eugene Mercedes quoted $9915! And I got to pay $390 for mostly misdiagnosed service. More
