Mercedes-Benz of Clearwater responded

Dear valued customer John Sauer fielded a telephone call from Ms Gamble who said she was being mistreated in Orlando. She and Lokey agreed to pricing on a new SLK250. Lokey then retrieved the car from out of state. Lokey agreed to an additional discount after Ms Gamble shopped yet another dealer, as USAA suggested Lokey was not a preferred dealer thus not qualifying her for USAA’s best rate. The logistics of coming to pick up the car became in question, so Mr. Sauer offered to bring the car and the paperwork to Ms Gamble’s home. She asked that the paperwork be completed utilizing her Power of Attorney (POA) for her husband. We informed Ms. Gamble that Mercedes Benz Financial Services (MBFS) does not allow financing of any Mercedes Benz Vehicle using a POA. This is not Lokey Motor Company Policy, but MBSF's’ Policy overall. Ms Gamble disputed this assertion suggesting that she had contacted MBSF herself and obtained approval. Lokey called MBSF and again obtained their position of not accepting a POA. Lokey asked that the MBSF contact Ms. Gamble personally to discuss, which did occur. Since we couldn’t overcome the POA objection, the GM offered hotel accommodations, complimentary, if she could arrange a visit to Lokey. When Ms Gamble expressed her desire to purchase the car elsewhere, we offered to trade the car to another MB dealer of her choice. We have traded the car to another dealer as promised. When we receive a credit application,we work on the behalf of the customer to find the best rates possible within the given parameters. We did so in this case. it is with full concern and protection of the customer, that we complete the customers requested transaction as we did with Ms. Gamble. As a authorized Mercedes Benz Dealer we are attentive to all legal submission matters to hold the highest esteem for our dealership. In conclusion, we are confident that we followed all standard protocols in negotiating and selling a car.
