My frustration and disappointment in Mercedes-Benz of Chandler comes in after the recent purchase of a used vehicle from their dealership. I found a 2018 Mazda3 with 20K miles on their website in what ap Chandler comes in after the recent purchase of a used vehicle from their dealership. I found a 2018 Mazda3 with 20K miles on their website in what appeared to be excellent condition. My wife and I visited the dealership, looked the vehicle over and test drove it. As we were happy with the car, we decided to purchase it. I'll say the process of purchasing the vehicle from start to finish went smoothly however, after purchasing the vehicle and getting ready to drive away with it is when the frustration and disappointment came in. Upon walking up to the car, after it was detailed by the dealership, we noticed a long scratch in the rear passenger and some more deep scratches in the rear bumper on the same side of the car. I quickly walked back to the dealership doors as it was closing time, and fortunately our sales associate saw me coming back to unlock the door. The sales associate, my wife, and I all looked the vehicle over, and agreed that not a one of us remembered seeing those scratches on the car before it went to detailing. Our sales associate took pictures of the damage and advised that he would meet with his manager the next day to discuss with him, as to what they could do for us to hopefully take care of the situation. Now I'll say this, those scratches could have been there all along, and all 3 of us could have totally missed them as they were on the lower half of the car, and it obviously was quite sunny out as it typically is here in Arizona however, in my opinion it's unlikely or at the very least odd that all 3 of us would have missed them when we noticed a couple of more very minor smaller scratches on the same side of the car. I received a call from the sales manager, asking if we were satisfied with the vehicle and our purchasing experience, this is when I was able to express my disappointment in the condition of the car when receiving it from them after detailing. The sales manager advised he would talk to our sales associate and see what they could do for us to provide good customer satisfaction. I then received a call from our sales associate advising that they were going to take care of the damages however, they would need my car for 3 days to paint the damaged areas, as the scratches were too deep to be buffed out. I returned my car to the dealership first thing the very next morning. Mercedes-Benz of Chandler had my car for 3 days, there was never no follow-up with me as to advise that anything had changed outside of what I was told they would be doing to fix the damage to my new car. When I finally was able to touch-base with my sales associate on Friday, as to the status of my car I was surprised to hear that they had did nothing other than try to buff out the scratch on the door. According to our sales associate there was a miscommunication between himself, the sales manager, and the collision center. Apparently, no one within the dealership wanted to pay to have the cars body panels painted in order to fix the damage. So, the long and the short of my experience here is to make sure your take pictures of the vehicle you are purchasing after you initially look it over and test drive it, as to attest to the vehicles condition upon purchase. This brings up another point, to the fact that nowhere in any of the photos that were posted online were those scratches present (even zoomed in on them at 200%). So, either another car was used in posting photos of the vehicle or they must have been photo shopped to hide the scratches, if they were in fact there all along. Again, I feel like Mercedes-Benz of Chandler totally over promised and under delivered on what they said they were going to do to take care of us as the customer and make this right as I had hoped.
