Bait and Switch on a 2020 VW Arteon SE 4Motion Saw an online advertisement for a 2020 Arteon SE 4Motion. The price was VERY GOOD. Emailed interest and received an email back asking me to schedule Saw an online advertisement for a 2020 Arteon SE 4Motion. The price was VERY GOOD. Emailed interest and received an email back asking me to schedule an appointment. Gave me a name to ask for when I arrived. (Sales Manager). Arrived and after waiting ten minutes was greeted and another individual showed me the car. I let him know I had already seen and driven the Arteon SE and was here to make a deal. Gave offer after providing information to alternate salesperson. Went to “Manager” with my offer. Waited 15 minutes and was told that “the price advertised was for a lease NOT a cash purchase”. So after ALL the run around found out that the price was NOT to purchase, but to lease. Classic bait and switch. Found out that the price was NOT doable on a 2020 (from another salesperson I have purchased from previously and who was also working to locate the color Arteon I wanted). Ended up driving to Chicago and buying the exact same car (2019 vs a 2020) for $1000 less than the advertised “lease” price on the 2020. Don’t do business with McGrath VW. They do not honor the deal!!!! I would give 0 if I could. We made the deal for blackout plates til March enough though my birthday is in Oct. When I got my plates in the mail they are only until Oct so I called the same day to talk with Drew as he is the one I made the deal with that was Tues June 9th he was off but I was told he would call me back. I waited until June 12th in the afternoon and called back myself as I hadn't gotten a call back. He told he now doesn't remember that we agreed on March but would look into it and get back to me. Drew called back today June 15th and now there is nothing that says anything about March and I could drive there to see for myself!! How convenient that even though I repeatly double checked that the plates would go through March as we were doing the paperwork and was reassured everytime that yes they were. Now that they made a mistake they will not honor their word or fix it!!!!! Also when I called on June 9th I asked for Landon to please call me as I learned my front wiper pump doesn't work to wash my windshield. It is June 15th and I still have not heard back from him and I asked Drew on 12th & today to ask him to call me. I will NEVER buy another vehicle from McGrath again!!!! More
