My wife and I went to McGrath Acura today in hopes of test driving a couple cars and if the situation was right, to purchase one. Sam and the other staff members were very accommodating. We test drove two different vehicles and were never once pressured into making a purchase. We felt like the situation was just right for us. I walked in and Chris O'Connor was immediately attentive to my needs; he wanted to know what I was looking for and he took me to the right area of the car lot that matched my interest. He was also able to impart personal anecdotes about Acura and when we took the TSX on a test drive, he was very friendly and able to keep the conversation about the car flowing. 1) Internet experience - My wife and I were interested in a specific car (in this case a rare manual Certified Acura TSX) at McGrath of Westmont. After expressing interest online, we were immediately called a specific car (in this case a rare manual Certified Acura TSX) at McGrath of Westmont. After expressing interest online, we were immediately called by Chris O'connor. He was very polite, gave a description on the car and asked if we were interested in test driving. We setup an appointment to see the car that evening. 2) Walking into dealership - First impressions are always important. As my wife and I walked into the dealership, we were immediately greeted and attended to (even though this was 15 minutes before the dealership was closing). We informed them that we were in to meet Chris O'connor. Chris immediately came and introduced himself to us. Again, very nice and professional. He offered us drinks and asked if we wanted to see the car. The car was pulled up to the front of the dealership and all ready for us to see. Even though the dealership was nearly closing, Chris gave us the keys and asked that we test drive the car, with no rush or pressure. We drove the car, liked it- but needed another night to think it over. Again, Chris wasn't pushy at all, just happy that we stopped by and eager to earn our business. 3) Purchase - I called Chris the next day- even though he was off of work that day, expressing interest in purchasing the car. He immediately arranged an appointment that day- at our convenience. At the dealership, the car was ready to go. Chris offered us refreshments and let us take the car for another test drive. We drove the car and decided to go final. The rest of the transaction was very smooth. We had traded in an Acura TL- and got a fair price for the trade. We offered a fair price on the TSX and it was accepted. There was no typical used car mentality here. Chris was very professional and courteous- just a genuine guy to talk to. He made the overall experience very nice. Overall, my wife and I were very pleased at this dealership. We've been to various Acura dealerships in Chicagoland - Woodfield and Continental. They all have nice accomodations, clean bathrooms, flat screen tvs, refreshments, quiet rooms, etc. However, the biggest differentiating factor is the people factor. Without great customer service, everything else is irrelevant. At McGrath Westmont, our salesman- Chris made that difference for us. More
