Here at McDonough Toyota we strive to make sure that each customer is dealt with in a very professional manner. In response to this customers feedback, the situation was a mess from the start. The dealership from which this customer purchased the vehicle had ordered the key from our parts department. When the key arrived, it was forwarded to that dealership to be programmed. That dealership then forwarded the key back to us since the were not able to program the key to the customer's vehicle. Once we received the key, then an appointment was set for this customer. The customer was told 30 minutes because this is a normal programming time for a key. The issue comes with the key. The key that the other dealership had ordered was not correct, so a reseeding process had to be done to make sure that the key would work properly for her. Also the issue with questions for payment was asked because no payment method was received from the other dealer. It took almost 45 minutes to have an approval given by the other dealer to have the process completed by our dealership for the customer. The questions about registration and license is required by Toyota before they will send an approval code for security reasons. The customer was not the primary driver and the address that was being used did not match the registration which throws up a red flag. The Master Tech doing the work asked the questions. Since she was a student, he went through with the process. The ASM kept this customer aware of the issues at all times. Between the wrong key provided and having to reseed the key system, getting an approval for the work from the other dealer(45 minutes), to the work being completed, the process took about an hour and a half. We have reached out to this customer but have yet to hear back.
