We fell in love with the Toyota Prius and Dave Woods and Gary Eavey made the process easy. We enjoyed working with them and left our 2007 Fit to drive back to Charlottesville in our new Prius 2 Eco. Thank you for the wonderful deal and the great service. We'll be back. More
Horrible service I purchased a vehicle from McDonough Toyota, paid $46, 600 for it, have taken it in for service for 3yrs...more times than not always a problem, star I purchased a vehicle from McDonough Toyota, paid $46, 600 for it, have taken it in for service for 3yrs...more times than not always a problem, starting with the tires , battery, alternator and simply just getting tire rotation and oil change. When you have owners that don't respect their customers, neither do the people they hire. I made appointment for service and asked what the charge would be and service said $85, got a 10%coupon in mail for veterans and senior discount, after waiting for 2 hours, when paying for service she said $96, I asked how could that be, she became very annoyed by that. I told her I was quoted $85 when I made the apt, simply because I wanted to be sure I had the correct amount of money...then she says...I will do it this time, but never again...like she's doing me a favor...after paying for the service and getting my receipt, she refused to even say "thank you", had to ask for a "thank you", with the manager of service standing right there beside me seeing her bad attitude and all. He never said a thing. After which, I confronted him about it, he said, she didn't mean anything by that. i said you have got to be joking me was my response...when I spend my money, at the least I expect a thank you....I assume that's asking too much. These people have no manners, I can remember numerous times walking into the service department and saying "good morning" and no response from anyone...where do these people come from with no home training and working with the public. I have had problems with the Owners as well, which is why the employees treat customers the way they do I take care and always keep my vehicle clean. Once I had to leave it and get a loaner, the vehicle they gave me to drive was unbelievable, nasty does not even describe it, was very upset...so much that when I got home, turned back and went to the dealership...found the Owner, took him outside so he could see what they gave me to drive....to my surprise, it didn't seem to bother him that much, he says..do you want something else to drive...he missed the point completely, never would I have ever put a customer in a nasty vehicle while their vehicle is being serviced....It's apparent they don't value their customers. So, instead of going back to McDonough for service or buying another vehicle from them, I will be driving to another Toyota Dealer. They did have one descent person working there which was Don Leach in financing who Toyota recommended to me when purchasing this vehicle. After which, everything has been down hill. Now I don't trust them, my next step is to contact Toyota and let them know how I've been treated by this Dealer so they will not refer anyone else to them. More

Always willing 2 help 2 the best they can I had an appointment and showed up a week early (embarrassing), the service staff still took me in at the same time as it would have been. I was told that I needed tires and that in a day there was going to be some kind of a sale, also to my surprise a front end alignment was included in the price! The next visit was having the tires and front end done. I was quoted about 2 hours, which I said I would wait. I show up and there was cars everywhere (lol). I walked in and Stephanie McLear helped me and informed me that it would be about an extra hour. I told her I really didn't want to wait, Stephanie then offered me a ride to my house and back to the dealership when my car was ready. These ladies are always helping explain things and going out of their way to assistant customers! More

I live and breathe by reviews however I also know to take them with a grain of salt. My goal was to purchase a pre owned certified vehicle as I wanted a car to help with my future needs of a family. I stopped by one day and was greeted cheerfully by Gary Eavey. I looked at many other car dealerships and I could tell from the start Gary was not pushy at all. He genuinely took an interest in what I had to say and also what I was looking for. He gave me suggestions based on what I was wanting to do which at that point I was pricing out different options from different dealerships. I ended up leaving as I saw what I needed and continued looking at different dealerships. I am an avid internet researcher when it comes to shopping and I continued my research for a preowned certified 2015 Corolla with less than 10,000 miles. I researched for about a week straight nonstop and I created a pretty large excel spreadsheet with information with about 15-20 other dealerships I contacted about the same model car I was looking into. I researched into invoice costs and dealer costs and exchanged multiple emails with many dealerships within 300 miles which I was willing to drive for as well. I got out the door pricing on about 15 of the cars that I was very interested in. I contacted many other dealerships and I was close to pulling the trigger on a few dealerships located in PA and OH, however I kept coming back to the fact of that out of all the dealers I had met Gary Eavey was honestly one of the nicest and easy going car dealers I have ever seen or dealt with so I knew I wanted to back and see Gary to talk more about their vehicles. When I returned for the second time Gary was busy with some other customers and I had a few other salesmen come out to the lot and ask if I needed help, they were very nice and helpful as well. This further showed me that Gary was not just a lucky find rather that the dealership employs quality and genuinely good people. This was a plus for me. After a short time Gary was able to come out and help me. I test drove a few vehicles and ended up talking with Gary for a bit more and again he was not pushy at all and was able to give me advice and options on next steps I could take depending on the route I wanted. I went back and did a little bit more research on the vehicle and eventually had all the data I needed as I had literally probably close to 100 pages of data between my spreadsheets, email exchanges, confirmation postings, and personal own independent research with sources for references. I was ready to go in and “negotiate”. To my surprise when I went in and thought I would need to negotiate I really did not have to at all. I just showed Gary all my data I had and he was straight forward and honest with me about some of the out the door price quotes I got from different dealerships saying that they wouldn’t be able to match a few of the price points. However I was also in talks with Stephen Toyota about a similar model and when I called earlier was greeted by a very rude person on the other side of phone. Like I stated before I am the type of person where I believe reviews and customer service is king in these industries and something as small as that will make me not give a company my business at all. They were even able to quote me on a brand new 2016 Corolla with an out the door pricing of less than any of the out the door price quotes I received from all the dealers I contacted about a 2015 preowned certified Corolla. I showed Gary and he came back and was able to beat their price pretty much the exact same model brand new 2016 Toyota Corolla! Now I could have tried to call back Stephen Toyota and tried to pit the two against each other in a price negotiation however I wanted nothing to do with Stephen Toyota as I am willing to pay more for a service/product that has great customer service than a place that treats customers poorly like Stephen Toyota did to me over the phone. Gary made the whole process very very relaxing, easy going, and very hassle free. What he says he honors and he is genuinely a nice person. Gary truly is a living example of how all car sales people should be. He understands that the services industries are changing and also that car dealerships are slowly shifting away from dealers having most of the negotiating power as lots of research can be done online now. If the other sales people at McDonough Toyota are just as helpful as Gary was to me than I truly believe you will not find a better dealership. I will return to buy from them again even if that means coming from out of state. Sorry for such a long review but I really want people to know just how helpful you guys were to me. Jeff McDaniel provided excellent insights regarding all the options/features that Toyota had to offer and worked with me to determine exactly what car was right for me. Jeff was friendly, informative and always willing to answer my questions. There was never a hard sell or pressure to buy. As a matter of fact, Jeff made the car buying experience fun. By the time I decided to make the purchase I was very comfortable with my decision and thrilled with my new Camry. More
Service Department sucks!! My first time here will be my last!! Had a 10:00 appointment for new tires, oil change, and some other work with the lights on my dash. I was told it would take about 3 hours to complete everything. They offered to give me a ride home so I didn't have to wait there. At 1:30 I returned to pick up my vehicle which I assumed would be done. Imagine my surprise when I found out they hadn't even started working on it. Said I didn't advise them that I needed it back at a certain time. What???? What's the point of an appointment then?? Apparently, I wasn't important to them. My time wasn't as important as their time. I won't be back. I'll take my business elsewhere, as should you!!! More

The salesperson with whom we dealt, Chad Hudnall, was terrific. There was no pressure, no sales pitch, he listened to us, very efficiently answered our many questions and was a complete pleasure to work with. Also, he knew his Toyota cars inside and out, was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We had a very good and positive feeling about the entire dealership and will definitely recommend Mcdonough's in Staunton to anyone who wants a very positive new or used car buying experience. We can not say enough positive things about Chad and this dealership. More
