I understand how frustrating it can be to be contacted after a purchase regarding additional paperwork or payment, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience this situation caused. Unfortunately, Colorado has a very complex vehicle sales tax system, and in some cases the initial tax calculation provided at the time of purchase is an estimate rather than a final amount. At closing, customers sign documentation acknowledging this estimate and confirming that they are responsible for any difference should the final tax calculation from the state or local authorities change. It’s important to note that this works both ways. In situations where taxes are overestimated, customers receive a refund. In this case, no additional charges were added after the fact, the amount requested was tax that has been owed since the date of purchase and is required to properly complete the registration process. That said, I regret that our communication did not meet your expectations. We should have done a better job explaining the situation clearly and promptly, and for that I apologize. HI Bill, I am trying to figure out why not discounting a used car equates to bad service? We price our cars competitively right from day one based on market values. I am surprised that you came into the store if we were $10,000 over market value on a used car that you asked about seeing on the internet. I am not sure why you feel we should discount our used cars, go to Carmax, Carvana and other used only dealers and they also do not negotiate. If we expect to sell cars quickly, we must be priced right or the cars sit and depreciate. Not a great business model and I am sure we wouldn't still be in business after 50 years with that business mindset. I am sorry you feel that you should get a discount on a well priced car, we will have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your day and I hope you find that perfect car you are looking for. Enjoy your day.
