Reached out to Matthews Kia regarding a car on their website, was told that car was sold but had another like it coming in a few weeks, I immediately informed them I was interested and wanted to purchas website, was told that car was sold but had another like it coming in a few weeks, I immediately informed them I was interested and wanted to purchase the vehicle by putting a deposit down over the phone, at which point the problem started. I was asked if I was from the area, I told them no, I’m from downstate NY but had no issues traveling to get the car I wanted. I was then informed they would not sell me the car because ‘they’d prefer to sell it to a local customer who could potentially be a repeat customer’. After some conversation, I was told I would be followed up with the following Monday, that never happened, I was never contacted again. While I understand that where I live is not a protected class in terms of legality, to discriminate against guaranteed customers because of where they live doesn’t seem like a strong business strategy. Take this review as you may, but if your not a Rochester resident, beware you may be discriminated against. More
