Our Sales person, Heather Taft, was terrific to work with. She was most accommodating and matched her approach to our needs. I truly felt as if she wanted us to choose what we would be happy with and what would suit our needs, even if she didn't sell it to us. Heather was very knowledgeable about the entire Hyundai line, both 2024 and 2025 models. She explained the special features in the model I was considering and showed me how they worked. She was happy to allow me to take multiple test drives, and didn't get ruffled when I briefly drove in my usual style to get a true sense of whether my choice would meet my needs. In the end I wasn't able to buy through Matthews, although I wanted to. Despite their big inventory, they were unable to get the red 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid that I chose. There were only 16 in the country in October and none were scheduled to come in to the East coast until at least January. I ended up going to a dealer 150 miles away to buy my car. Heather stayed with me through the end. She was happy I at least chose a Hyundai. She even reached out after I had the new car to offer her assistance in answering any questions I had about the car or if I needed help with setting up connections. She told me she could also help in arranging service or ordering accessories, if needed. That says a lot to me. I am thoroughly delighted with the 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid. Heather was a big part of why I decided this Hyundai was right for me. Not because of a hard sell, but because she was willing to listen and offer what was sensible. I can't offer any views about the dealership or service they provide, but based on my experience with Heather, I will try out their service department when the time comes for that. More

The Good: Great personalities and overall vibe from the staff. I witnessed an irate customer respectfully calmed down to address a problem during a busy time. When misteps occur, quick action addresses issues. The location supports a solid test drive with diverse conditions. The Need for Improvement: (1) Capital Region prices will be higher than those compared to Syracuse or CT; accept this fact. Determine the value of your time versus just price. Albany Hyundai's volume seems to put Matthews in the underdog position (can't win a head to head competition on price alone). (2) My rating reflects the time and energy being understanding and frustrating end with my otherwise nice salesperson - incorrect paperwork, registration received after expired, salesman wasted my time to drive back to the dealership when a phone call would've answered a concern. If two easy referral sales were redirected, it's worth knowing. I love an underdog but know what you may be facing. If half the energy to solicit a high rating review was present to be responsive in the end, this would be higher. More
