I recently came into Gary Matthews Nissan for regular service on my Nissan Titan, and was approached by a salesman named Stan who proceeded to inquire to my wife and I on purchasing a new vehicle or trad service on my Nissan Titan, and was approached by a salesman named Stan who proceeded to inquire to my wife and I on purchasing a new vehicle or trading in one before the end of the year. He also made sure to mention a family tragedy that recently occurred to him, in which we felt sorry for him upon hearing. My wife and I had just prior to coming in discussed possibly trading her 2006 Monte Carlo SS NASCAR Pacecar Edition in for something with four doors, preferably a Chevy Trailblazer SS, Or a Nissan Murano. We relayed this to Stan who seemed more than willing/excited to grab his note book and write down what options, mileage, color etc we were looking for. I told him I would only be willing to trade for something around the same year or newer with no more than 65,000 miles, as my Monte Carlo had only 66,000. He and his sales assistant Taylor quickly took off to see what was available and returned telling us they had three Nissan Muranos that matched my request. He then asked how far we lived from the dealership as they would be willing to come take a look at our car and give us an appraisal, or if we would be willing to bring it back the same day for them to review while they cleaned up the Muranos he previously mentioned. I agreed to bring it back for them to appraise and said we would go from there. Taylor took my wife and I out to two Nissan Muranos, saying the third had been sold, there was a light blue 2011 and a black 2005. I asked the mileage on the 2005 as that had been my favorite year style, she told us she didn't know because Stan did not tell her, only told her where the vehicle was parked. We went back inside so she could get the key, and copy my license and insurance while someone pulled the truck around and would have it ready for us when we brought the Monte Carlo back. Upon arrival back to Gary Matthews, we were greeted by both Stan, Taylor and Derrick the Sales Manager. Derrick congratulated us on our new purchase, even though we hadn't purchased anything yet, and were taken to the Black Murano for a test drive, Taylor assured us everything was good to go, and told us to go enjoy a ride in it. While on the test drive I noticed the mileage on the vehicle was well over 130,000 miles, I was very surprised at this because I was clear I didn't want anything with more than 65k, I pulled into a local church parking lot to inspect the vehicle closer. Keeping in mind it was 20-30 degrees with a rain/snow mix and almost dark out. I opened the hood and as far as I could tell things were in order, minus the oil being down about a quart and someone completely going overboard at using Armor All to clean up the engines plastics. I walked around back to check that the hatch opened easily, and noticed they hadn't put a dealer tag on before the test drive, only a license plate frame with the dealerships name on it. Upon return, Stan sat us down with Taylor and started trying to get my signature on paperwork. I backed him off and asked for the Car Fax Report, he pulled one from a manilla folder and I was only able to glance at it for about a minute before he it it back, I did get to check for the number of owners and seen it showed No accidents. He then told us his mechanic advised my Monte Carlo needed new front brakes and it would cost the dealership $1,500 to do so, I explained to him that the brakes were replaced earlier in the year and were drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads I purchased from Power Stop, and had them installed at Goodyear in Clarksville. There were no issues with them to my knowledge and I only paid $350 for all four rotors with pads. He laughed and asked if I would work on his car for him. I then said since you insist on dropping my trade in price by $1,500 how about dropping the price of the Murano since the mileage is more than double what I requested? He said they would be willing to work something out for us, and that his paperwork was wrong. He apologized and then wanted to know how much cash I would be putting down. I said none until I know what your even asking for the Murano and if it turned out to be a decent deal, I would go a maximum of $1,000 down. Then I noticed my wife signing something with Taylor, which Taylor then took to Derrick. Derrick came out of his office with a few others and shot confetti over my wife and I and said congratulations and shook my hand. I asked Taylor what this was about as I hadn't even known the asking price. She took off to grab some paperwork that showed they wanted $19,000, but took off $3,000 because of the mileage. I was taken away they wanted so much and excused myself to the restroom to get the KBB on such a vehicle, it came back to be around $9,750. I took this information back to both Stan and Taylor and Stan tried his sales pitch on saying what a deal they were giving us with how well the Murano drives, it's heated seats etc and was referred to Derrick to sign loan paperwork, I brought up my complaint about the price and mileage again and got him to work down to $13,000 at 5% interest. I still felt it was too high, but knowing my wife was finally ready to get something bigger and that she loved the Murano I made the deal but requested an oil change, and the floor mats and rear headrest which were missing upon another inspection by my wife, and requested a Manual for my 2012 Nissan Titan which Newton Nissan had forgotten when I bought the truck there. Derrick agreed and said they should have them in a week and that Taylor would work on it. Feeling undecided with the deal I made still after arriving home,I went on Craigslist to search comparable vehicles and found the one I just purchased, the exact same on listed for $9,700 and again found an ad for it on Campbellyardsales.com for $9,700 being offered by a salesman named David Yarbrough at Gary Matthews Nissan's Used Car section. I called the dealership the next day and requested the owner, and was told he would call me back shortly. However Derrick is the one who called me back, and upon my explanation of that I found and giving him the links. He said David Yarbrough wasn't even authorized to list vehicles on such websites and he would see to it that he was corrected for his actions and that they cannot sell vehicles for so little, being close to the KBB like that, that they wouldn't be in business, but could not offer any money back as we had a fair deal, I told him still planned to come in the same day for a new key and fob, and also to get the tires filled with Nitrogen before their $20 deal expired. Derrick offered to give me the parts and services at his employee pricing. This made me feel a little better. We brought the truck in, got an apology from Derrick and Taylor, got the tires filled and ordered the key with fob, a week later I still down have the floor mats, head rest, not the manual promised. I will continue to get my vehicles serviced here, but as for buying again, I will make the drive to Gallatin Tennessee and go to Newton Nissan where I received a family like welcome and a no stress environment. PS, after receiving two calls from Gary Matthews Survey team and telling them about this rotten deal, and being promised they would tell Gary Matthews himself... I haven't heard a thing back. More
My husband and I came into the dealership committed to NOT purchase the same day. Bryan did not hesitate to offer us $500 over invoice for the Grand Vitara we test drove. There was nothing that could have NOT purchase the same day. Bryan did not hesitate to offer us $500 over invoice for the Grand Vitara we test drove. There was nothing that could have been done better by Bryan Bailey or the others in the dealership. More

The wait for the service has always been plea Nissan. Mike Fields in the service department has always taken care of my car in a professional manner. The wait for the service has always been pleasant with cookies available, too. David Usry sold me the 2012 Altima and handled every aspect of the purchase. He is friendly, knowledgeable about the product and took the time to explain the features of the car and test drive with me. His gentle non-pushy manner was perfect. I would highly recommend him as a salesperson. The gas card and car washes are extras that are appreciated. Thank you. More
I was very happy with the customer service. I went to other dealerships looking to buy a new car, I was looking at cars for at least 20 minutes and was not waited on. Needless to say, I did not buy a car other dealerships looking to buy a new car, I was looking at cars for at least 20 minutes and was not waited on. Needless to say, I did not buy a car from them, they lost a sale. The salespeople at Nissan were friendly, greeted me right away, but were not overly aggressive, leaving me to feel like I was I total control of my decision as to which car I felt was right for me. I could not have asked for a better experience. More
