A Class Act - The Way Luxury should Look, Feel and Function I must preface this review with a bit of transparency. I loathe car salesmen. You know - the guy who treats you like prey in a jungle - harassing you I must preface this review with a bit of transparency. I loathe car salesmen. You know - the guy who treats you like prey in a jungle - harassing you until you just roll over and play dead. Hates It! What bothers me most is having these bottom-feeding experiences at luxury car dealerships. It is the worst. You may think... oh, no. Not at a Maserati dealership. Let me tell you! I'm speaking from experience. There are some bottom-feeders out there even at Maserati dealerships. The good news? None of that applied to my experience with Robert (or "Bobbie) or with MainLine. Quite contrary, Bobby and I went back and forth for MONTHS - 2 months and 2 days to be exact. I had narrowed my next car purchase search down to the Tesla Model X, BMW X6, Mercedes AMG GLE 43 Coupe, and the Maserati Levante. Of these, the most fun to drive was, hands down, the Levante. If you like speed or fast cars, she's the one for you! The exhaust sound, alone, is straight CRAZY! After agonizing about it and test driving all 4 vehicles, I had finally narrowed down my search to the Model X and Levante. I found each to have unique offerings and each in a class of its own. After having a xxxxxx like experience with a local Maserati dealership in the DC/MD/VA area, I settled on the Tesla X - or so I thought. Tesla doesn't have their crap together, so my patience ran out with them, and while its fast for an electric vehicle, its not fun to drive, so with that, I was back to the Levante. I decided to cast a wider net online, and that's when I found MainLine. Not only was their pricing better, by on average 10-15%, they had a larger inventory from which to choose. I found a 2018 GrandLusso that I couldn't take my eyes off. It remained an open tab on my computer's browser for weeks. When I initiated contact with Bobbie the first time, I tested to see if I was going to have another xxxxxx-esque experience. I gave him the deets for my trade. He came back with the lowest offer I had been given from anyone. I immediately pulled back with a "Ok, thanks. Have a great day!" email. He didn't give up. He wasn't annoying about it. He just came back with, "What number were you thinking for the value?"... to which I responded with the numbers I had been quoted by other dealerships who had seen the car, to include the xxxxxxxxx Maserati dealership in the DMV even providing proof (e.g., emails, screenshots of text messages. After a bit of back and forth, he brought his offer up to theirs. I was still a bit skeptical. As I historically do, I went to my credit union to get financing. Due to the price point, they wanted me to jump through hoops, so I went shopping for financing through other channels. I inquired with Bobbie about their financing, making it clear I would not want my credit dragged through multiple searches causing multiple inquiries on my credit report. He assured me they only dealt with one creditor and that's Chase Maserati. He gave me his word I would only have one inquiry. I submitted an online application that took only seconds to complete. Minutes later he emailed and texted me that I was approved. I was still on the fence. I was waiting for the floor to fall out from beneath me, because our exchange was so drama free and smooth. Still, Bobbie remained professional. No pressure. Every other day he would check in to see where I was. I finally decided to make the drive to Philly from DC - keeping Bobbie guessing as to whether I was gonna buy the car or not. When I arrived, the dealership sits on a street that looks like Mulberry in a small quaint town that got stuck in a previous century. The town made me feel like I had been taken back in time. However, the dealership, was very modern. It screams luxury. I gasped a little as I pulled into the parking lot. I walk in and Bobbie knew instantly it was me. Good thing I didn't make too many more stops on the way there, because a woman comes in 20 minutes after me, looking to buy MY car. This is a cautionary tale. If you see something MainLine has - just because its been sitting for a few weeks - doesn't mean it will be there forever. There's likely someone - just like you - watching the car everyday until they decide to make that fateful drive in. If you know you want it and you like it - GO GET IT before someone else does. Once I arrived, Bobbie took care of everything, from facilitating my documents with the Finance Manager to transferring my Easy Pass transponder from my old car to the new one. He didn't let me do anything. His manager - presumably the GM - came out to greet me and shake my hand. You could tell these folks work as a team and operate as a well-oiled machine. The car was detailed and ready to go. Bobbie did a thorough walk thru to explain how this big computer works and told me to call him anytime if I had questions. There was a minor snafu with the financing paperwork, but that was quickly resolved and was no fault of Bobbie's. I can't speak highly enough of Bobbie or the Mainline team. While I live a few hundred miles away, I am 100% confident that if this team is still here when I'm ready to buy again, that I'll be back. This will be my dealership of choice for my next purchase for sure, because so far... I am IN LOVE WITH MY MASERATI LEVANTE. In love, folks! I could not have had a better experience and I owe it all to Bobbie. Thank you! More
