Edwin Caldwell is an awesome salseman! He did an awesome job of making sure I got not just what I wanted but what I needed too. Everyone at Mark Jacobson was friendly and willing to assist in everyway possible. I felt they had my best interest at hand and was not simply just making a sale.Edwin didn't just sell me the car but he followed up to see how things were going with the vehicle. Not to mention how he volunteered to show me how to use the navigation system and phone. One day after I got the car the tire pressure light came on and I called Edwin and he asked me to bring it back. He had the service department check it out and wash the car and sent me out smiling once again at their kind service. Another thing that impressed me has been the car care package and how effective the team has been in this area also. I have already put 10 thousand miles on my new car. Each time I have been in there the sales people have treated me with such professionalism. More
Edwin got me in the car that I wanted and was very attentive to my needs as a new car buyer. I had never purchased a new new car before and had tried out quite a few dealerships and cars before stick attentive to my needs as a new car buyer. I had never purchased a new new car before and had tried out quite a few dealerships and cars before sticking with my TC. I bought a car from Mark Jacobson because of Edwin hands down. After talking with sales people at different dealerships and car makers, Edwin was what sold me on Mark Jacobson as my Car Dealer. I knew that even if I did not buy the TC I would buy a car from Edwin. If you are looking for the best dealer in Durham go see Edwin over at mark jacobson. More
Since 2005, we have purchased four new Toyotas from Mark Jacobson Toyota, mostly Highlanders. They have a nice new facility, “no-haggle” pricing, a large selection of vehicles, and low key sales people. The Jacobson Toyota, mostly Highlanders. They have a nice new facility, “no-haggle” pricing, a large selection of vehicles, and low key sales people. The managers and even the executives are accessible, including Doug Hanenberg (COO), David Boyd (Service Manager), and Jeff Pope (Parts Manager). In addition to the regular sales and service staff, they have all been willing to work with me over the years. More
The service department installed a faulty ECM on my 2007 Matrix because the original left me stranded in the left lane on I-85... a dangerous situation only to have it start indicating false messages to the Matrix because the original left me stranded in the left lane on I-85... a dangerous situation only to have it start indicating false messages to the "check engine" light. MJT said it was not the ECM but a faulty gas cap and charged $117 to "diagnose" the problem and replace the gas cap. Well, it didn't work and the CE light continued to go on showing the same code. The service manager lied to me and said the new ECM was already out of warranty because a changed out part only has a one year guarantee. In reality, a part replaced under warranty picks up the remainder of the manufacturer's warranty which, in this case is 7 years or 80,000 miles per NC law. When I challenged the SM on the validity of his statement he told me to take my car elsewhere for service. I have filed a complaint with Toyota but, as is their custom, they have, after two weeks, failed to accomplish anything and continue to promise return phone calls that never come. I should have checked the ratings for this dealership before I purchased there. My bad! I hope others don't make the same mistake. Toyota dealers are a dime a dozen and you have many choices. I dumped the Matrix and bought a Honda CRV. More
COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case # 11068536 Better COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case # 11068536 Better Business Bureau Mark Jacobson Toyota 4516 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd Durham, NC 27707-2511 919 COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case # 11068536 Better Business Bureau Mark Jacobson Toyota 4516 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd Durham, NC 27707-2511 919 493-5599 Consumer's Original Complaint : They sold me a Prius 2 telling me it was a Prius 3. They also falsely advertise complete satisfaction guaranteed. On 6-25-2011 I was sold a 2011 Toyota Prius that was advertised to be a Prius 3 for $29714.40 A few days later I discovered it to only be a Prius 2 even though they even stated Prius III on the title documentation. I have a web printout of a Google search of the VIN that shows them selling it as a Prius 3. While not denying their false advertising they only offered to roll back the deal. That was unacceptable to us because of the time and effort in securing financing and that there were no other low mileage Prius models available. Also Mark Jacobson Toyota is engaging in blatant false advertising by advertising "complete satisfaction guaranteed". That is a blatant lie and is textbook false advertising. They also did not honor their website offer for our trade in. Consumer's Desired Resolution: The honest and honorable thing for them to do is simply refund me the difference between the base price of a Prius 2 and the base price of a Prius 3 since I was told I was buying a Prius 3 and they had been publicly advertising the car as a Prius 3. I have been visited this dealership for last 8 years. Honestly, the only reason I visited them is that they are close to my home, otherwise, I will not see them at all. In general, I think they are not h Honestly, the only reason I visited them is that they are close to my home, otherwise, I will not see them at all. In general, I think they are not hoestly doing business. For example, last year they checked my car and said one wheel is bended so I replaced it. This year, they said that another wheel is bended but this time I refused to replace because I feel it is quite weird that the wheel bended so often. I went another toyota dealer in another city (much big size dealer) and ask them to check if there is any wheel bended. They told me all wheel are perfect??? Who I can believe. I would trust the new dealer since they can easily gain my business by saying the wheel is bended but they did not. More
I had a very good experience at Mark Jacobson Toyota. We stopped in looking for a quality used car and was impressed with their selection. They do things a little differently, they have a no-haggle policy. stopped in looking for a quality used car and was impressed with their selection. They do things a little differently, they have a no-haggle policy. So, what you see is what it costs. I would have like the opportunity to negotiate, but it ended up working out. We liked a 2007 Acura TSX they had but it was out of our price range. The salesman understood our budget constraints. and was patient with us. He called us every time they reduced the price. The price dropped $4000 and we snagged it. I would recommend this dealership. More
I totally agree with some of the bad past experiences people have had with this dealership. The times I have gone there, the sales staff have been very unfriendly, and rude. For example, I went in one ti people have had with this dealership. The times I have gone there, the sales staff have been very unfriendly, and rude. For example, I went in one time to find out something about a Scion xB I was very much interested in purchasing. So, I asked someone at the information desk, and they got a sales person. However, when a sales person did come over, I don't have the words to describe their rudeness. I honestly doubt, from past experiences, that the sales staff is supposed to ask (in a rude manner): ''what are you driving now!'' It doesn't make any sense. That there proves this is not a good place. I had better results in the Suzuki side of this dealership, but I would avoid this place like the plague for reasons previously mentioned. People who have worked there and bought from Mark Jacobson have told me their stories (none of which are pleasant), and it makes plenty of sense. What is sad is that this place is conveniently located for me, and since I refuse to do business, I have to go an hour away (which is worth it IMO.) More
I went to cars.com to ask three local dealers for a quote on a specific Toyota. Mark Jacobson was one of those dealers. Instead of sending a quote, all I got was a form-letter e-mail asking me to call. I on a specific Toyota. Mark Jacobson was one of those dealers. Instead of sending a quote, all I got was a form-letter e-mail asking me to call. I sent two follow-up e-mails asking again for a quote. I received no response what-so-ever to those e-mails. I suspect they want you to call so they can draw you into their lair so they can use the traditional car salesman tricks instead of bidding for my business. Sorry, Mark Jacobson, I didn't bite! I received a very, very good on-line quote from Fred Anderson down the road and they will be getting my business. Don't waste your time with Mark Jacobson. More
