Disappointing Experience. I test drove a used Prius on Monday. Called back about it on Tuesday. Spoke to Dave Cepeda on Wed. Was sold the car over the phone and told I could pi I test drove a used Prius on Monday. Called back about it on Tuesday. Spoke to Dave Cepeda on Wed. Was sold the car over the phone and told I could pick it up Friday. I arrived via public transportation with a cashier's check for the full amount given by Dave Cepeda over the phone. While on my way there I received an e-mail confirming my appt. to pick up my car. The perfect used car isn't easy to come by and I felt I had found just the right car for me. And then the unbelievable happened; I was told that my car had been sold. And worse yet it had been sold 2 days before. How could they sell my car? I was and still am in shock over this mistake. But the additional insult to injury was to continue for weeks to come. The manager wouldn't shake my hand or come from behind his desk. There was no attempt to correct the matter and I was told that I was at fault. Several employees were witness to the entire incident and not one took a professional stance but instead I was berated by their manager and the salesman who had originally shown me the car and who emailed me just moments before I arrived. His email said he was looking forward to my arrival to pick up the car but within moments I was treated as a pariah and all they were willing to do was call an Uber to pick me up and send me on my way. I was stunned. No phone call from them, no attempt to retain my business. Nothing. I contacted Toyota corporate they assured me that I would receive a call from Magnussen's management team. Days past. Nothing still. More than a week later I received a call from Steve Paladino. I assumed I was speaking to someone with authority and professionalism. He said he had a similar car on the lot and asked if I would like to see it. Of course I was interested. He offered to send pics.. I received nothing. The next day he calls and said the car had been sold and that's why he didn't send any pics.. At that point my feeling was that he just wanted me to go away because he followed with "maybe we can get you a great deal on a new car instead". Complete disregard for what I was looking for and still not acknowledging their errors; their many errors. I cashed out the cashier's check, found a great car for less ($3k less) at a local, independent dealer and won't be returning to a dealership in any way associated with Magnusson. I have bought many cars and dealt with many car salesman in the past but Steve Paladino made our recent Prius Prime car buying smooth and efficient. He processed our purchase very efficiently and did not waste any of our time! He was patient with us and answered all our questions and showed us how to work all the new features of our awesome car! He even took the time to help us download and set up our Entune system. He had us program in our top four phone numbers we call most often. Steve Paladino was easy to communicate with. Tony Aguirre, top service person. Tony Aguirre has managed the service of my vehicles for over 20 years. My husband passed away a year ago. I took his Rav 4 in for Tony to service. I stressed the importance of keeping the vehicle running. Tony and his service team checked it out thoroughly and gave me a quote. I was impressed by how much Tony took care to call me with updates. It seems that he understood the sentimental value. When I went to get the car, he personally came to see how things were going. The car runs great. While I know it will not last forever, I get to keep it a bit longer. I sold my 17 year old car Forerunner and upgraded to a Lexus. I look forward to many more years with Toyota! That is due in part to the fact that my husband and I have worked with Tony. He also services my brother's truck, a second purchase for my brother. Keep up the good work Tony. I have always had confidence in the Service Representatives, that they wouldn't recommend anything not actually needed for my vehicle. This time, Octavio Rubio stayed in touch with me during the time my vehicle was in the shop, and seemed honest when he suggested some additional work be done, over and above the 100,000 mile service. I'm glad I believed him, as the car runs better today than it had for quite awhile! I'll stick with Magnussen's service as long as I own this car, or any other Toyota. More
