My poor experience all came from the appraisal process. Outside of the used appraiser and appraisal process, the rest of the transaction was smooth. The appraiser look at my vehicle and said he had bad news. He stated my 4 wheel drive was not working and could only give me $17k for my trade in, but if it was working he could've given me $21k. I told him I didn't agree that the 4 wheel drive wasn't working and that they would have to give me a couple of days to work with the Dodge dealership to verify this. Both the sales person and the appraiser did not like that I wanted to cancel the transaction to get the 4 wheel drive verified. The appraiser even stated since it was June 30th if I even waited one day that my truck value would go down and he wouldn't be able to offer me the $17k because the new used values come out on the 1st of every month. Seemed like they were strong arming me to push forward with the transaction. I told them I've never had a problem with the 4 wheel drive and use it every time I pull my boat out of the water so I knew it worked. Fortunately the Dodge dealership is just down the road so I took my truck to them. The Dodge dealership was friendly and had a mechanic hop in the truck. The mechanic drove a few feet and immediately said there is nothing wrong with the 4 wheel drive. I should mention that I told Dodge that Lynn Layton was appraising my vehicle as a trade in and both the mechanic and the service manager laughed and said they were trying to pulling one over on me because the 4x4 is fine. I call the sales person back to tell him Dodge stated there was nothing wrong with 4 wheel drive. The sales person asked me to come back to Lynn Layton and he would take a look. This is the sales person not the appraiser person. I get back to Lynn Layton and he jumps in the driver seat and I jump in the passenger seat. He commences on driving and going through the different ranges of 4 wheel drive. He puts it in 4 low and you can easily tell the 4 wheel drive is engaging. So we pull back up to the main entrance of Lynn Layton and go in. At this point I'm under the impression we are all good and they now agree the 4 wheel drive is working. I was wrong. Let me introduce you to the guy only known as the one with the limp because I didn't catch his name. As soon as we get back into the dealership he states that he talked to the Dodge dealership and they said it was an actuator. I immediately said "are you kidding me, I just came from the dealership and they are laughing their xxxxx off at this because there is nothing wrong with the 4 wheel drive." The guy with the limp didn't have much to say after that. The appraiser wasn't convinced either. He needed to take another look and wanted to take the truck to the back of the lot where there is gravel to see if he could get the tires to spin. I stated "if you're doing that I want to watch" because at this point I have no faith they are being trustworthy and would in no way take their word for it at this point. The appraiser puts it in 4 low and the tires don't spin. He said "see I can't get the 4 wheel drive to engage". I said put it in 4 high and the sales person said turn the TCS off. I peaked in the window to verify it was in 4 high and TCS was off. I said floor it. The appraiser floors it and all 4 wheels kick up dirt. The sales person and I agree it's working. Even after this the appraiser had two of his mechanics get in the truck and verify as well. Both mechanics agreed it's working. I would've been out $4k if I didn't question the appraiser. This is the reason why dealerships get a bad rep. I will not buy another vehicle from Lynn Layton nor will I recommend the dealership to anyone I know. Review would be longer, but I'm limited to 805 words. More

I got my best deal and he took my information over the phone. My car was cleaned up, filled with gas and the paperwork was all ready faster than I could get to the dealership. The whole process was quick and pleasant. Shane is a good man and a straight shooter. One of the sales managers, Austin Craft, did the F&I. He had pre-printed the forms - and - when I decided to make a last-minute warranty change, he quickly had the forms reprinted and the whole process took just a few minutes. Besides giving the best service, they have no Doc Fee, which saves $500-$1000 compared to most competitors. Also, on my first purchase 5 years ago, at about 12,000 miles, I had a problem that required ordering a part that took over a month to get. Brian Presley is the service manager and he personally kept me informed on the status of my vehicle while it was in the shop and immediately provided a great vehicle for me to use for the whole time that my car was being serviced. Brian is one of the reasons that I returned to Lynn Layton even though several Ford dealerships are closer to my home. More
