Wasn’t sure of what to expect but Luis was very honest on what repairs were needed. I came in for an oil change and brakes and his team identified additional items to address and assisted me in determining w what repairs were needed. I get it, dealerships need to make money and pay overhead. Why not be honest? It would go a long way. This specific gripe comes from my service department experience today. As usual the service ad overhead. Why not be honest? It would go a long way. This specific gripe comes from my service department experience today. As usual the service advisor was friendly and helpful. Did he try to sell me more than I came for, absolutely as they are trained to do. I know I needed 2 tires so when he asked if I wanted to look at getting 2 new tires I said get me a price and I’ll consider it. The price was more than I would pay at a competitor so I asked if he could match the price. He said he could if I could get him something showing the price for the same tire cheaper. I did and he agreed to honor the price. He cited there would be labor, disposal, and tax in addition to the rubber cost. I asked specifically if my prepaid tire and wheel warranty would cover these tires or if it was just for the original tires that came on the truck. He said they would be covered. Fast forward to delivery time and the bill. On the first version of the bill, I was being charged for road hazard to the tune of $49 and change each. Touché. So he was able to recoup half of the discount on the price match with some phantom made up charge. I’ve already prepaid for a product that covers tire damage, why would I pay twice? But even at that, the math was not adding up. Why was my bill so high? I realized I was being charged for my original service which was a prepaid oil change as well. I guess an un suspecting customer could have paid the whole bill and then the dealership would have recouped the whole price match discount. I was able to get the oil change removed from the bill but then, I noticed the road hazard charges disappeared but then were transported into the tire price. Somehow, complaining about being over-billed turned into the price of negotiated products changing in the dealerships favor. I was then assured by other service personnel that all tires must be sold with road hazard fees. If that is true, why are they now hidden in the material cost and not a line item. True or not, it was not disclosed in the original negotiation, which I have in writing by the way. And as stated previously, I paid for the tire and wheel package at closing and was told it covers road hazard. If my original service advisor could not really cover the price match he should have told me up front. We can pretend that this is just a misunderstanding but it is not my first encounter with shady service department behavior. I will not be continuing my relationship with Lone Star Toyota and will perform future service at another dealership. More
