I took it to Lithia Volkswagen and there they discovers that it was a factory default and would be paid for by warranty. It was there overnight and now I’m back to cruising down the road worry free. Within the first month we realized the AC was blowing hot air on one side. I called the service reps to see what they recommended. They advised to bring it in that day (it was already 4:00 PM), but knew it probably couldn't get fixed that day. So they recommended bringing it in the next week and offered a rental car. We are a one car family at the moment and need a car to get around. I was completely fine with that. We went in at 7 AM (at their recommendation) to drop the car off and get the rental. Only to be told "we don't have one available." My fiancée had a family member pass away the previous day, so she was in no mood to put up a fight. I called the dealership extremely upset because they already knew we needed a rental car. I was give the "oh, I'm not sure why she was told that. We have a rental car right here." Ok, fine, mistakes happen. I'm satisfied at this point. I call my fiancée later to make sure everything went ok after that. She mentions a few comments that were made by their staff. Their staff had the audacity to say "I don't know why you need a rental car anyway, it's just going to sit at work." Who are they to tell us if we need a rental car or not? Not that it should matter, but we needed to get around that day to meet with family and set up funeral arrangements. Then the salesman turns their back and made a comment to another tech stating "oh, it's going to be one of those..." Thinking that she didn't hear them. Extremely unprofessional. The work ended up being somewhat extensive. They had to remove the entire dash. We were told it would be finished that Friday at the latest. Friday comes and goes with no communication. We had the funeral that day, so it wasn't on the top of my priority list to follow up with them. So I attempt to reach them on Monday... no response. I eventually call 2 days later asking for an update. They seemed caught off guard that I called for an update. The service manager even said "oh, well looks like I dropped the ball on communication here." That was the first time anyone at the dealership took responsibility for anything. We go the car back later that day. Of course it doesn't end there. The dash was not completely snapped back together. There's still a piece sticking out/possibly broken. We found broken plastic pieces all over the floor. And so far I've found 2 gouges in our leather where they apparently weren't very careful with the dash. I get it, the leather scratches easily, but this thing is less than a month old, and it's clear they weren't very careful. It's not worth my time or effort to get back in there and have them "fix it." They would probably just make it worse. I've already sent a review to them with no response. So it's fairly clear that no one really cares. I guess this was the next step to let other people know of our experience. More

I had a somewhat unsatisfactory experience at Lithia for repairing my Atlas. The first problem was that it took three phone calls to service to get an appointment scheduled. The first two calls I left a message and nobody called me back. After getting my car in it was found that some wiring had been damaged by rodents causing my AC to not work. I understand why that is not covered by warranty and I agree with that assesment but the problem is that this whole service started off on a negative with failure to return my calls. It could've been made right by just fixing my AC but Lithia and VW wouldn't budge. I understand why but for $300 you could've had a very satisfied customer. Instead, when it comes to buying another vehicle I will likely shop around instead of just buying an Atlas like I had originally planned. I also purchased my last vehicle from Lithia Audi so all in all in the past 3 years I have spent roughly 85k with Lithia Des Moines yet you guys felt it necessary to get $300 out of me even after a pretty questionable service experience. I do still love my Atlas but when it comes time again to buy another vehicle I will certainly be more apt to shop around. It is what it is. More
