Been coming here for the past 3 years and this place was always great. I got my car when it just came out and back in 2007 VW didn't do free scheduled maintenance so I bought their service for 4 years. Wish always great. I got my car when it just came out and back in 2007 VW didn't do free scheduled maintenance so I bought their service for 4 years. Wish I didn't because no one told me that it works only in the dealership where you buy the VW. I though this was going to be a hassle but turns out this dealership is the best one in the DC area and I'm happy I've been "attached" to them. The place is very comfortable and welcoming, there's free WIFI, coffee, TV, magazines, rental car service. It's brand new comparing to other dealers. Looks very european and clean. Robbie is the guy I always go to and he remembers me every time I come for scheduled oil change etc. I always get an email the day after my visit so if something goes wrong I always have an opportunity to let VW guys at the top know about it. Never had to do that though. Overall I think this place paints a very positive VW reputation. I understand that dealerships are in general little hard to "love," but this place is very close to that. Thanks for all the hard work. More

This experience is often especially interesting given the vane, arrogant and narcissistic morons one encounters on a daily basis. Despite that, it's always a refreshing experience to visit with my team there at your dealership. Whatever car-related issues, concerns or anxieties arise, I know Erin, or her colleague Anna, is going to expeditiously get my Jetta in for Jeff (the best VW god I've seen since I left Europe in 1984), to do his magic. I've known Jeff since driving my first Jetta, a 1988, which he maintained for nearly 14 years. In it's later years, he affectionaly referred to it as the "Melwood Car." I've even called the Thelma and Louise from the PA Turnpike when I thought my car was acting up. They were able to put me through to Jeff who accurately diagnosed an errant coolant sensor. I was able to complete my 3 State trip without the additional worry and subsequent expense of having to deadline my vehicle. It's been a pleasure to work with Thelma, Louise and Danno. I hope to continue to do so for a long time to come. Thanks Folks! Cheers. R. Mark. Wright More
I have been taking my four VWs to Lindsay for service for the last two years. I am very satisfied with the service I have received. I have no problems with getting appointments to bring my cars in for repa the last two years. I am very satisfied with the service I have received. I have no problems with getting appointments to bring my cars in for repairs or scheduled maintenance. The Phaeton technician, Leo, is very knowledgeable and pinpoints any problems with a minimum of effort. There is also another technician that has worked on my daughter's Jetta, unfortunately I cannot remember his name. He did a very good job with her car after an unusual incident. The service manager, Mr. Boots, and Jimmy, the warranty work manager, have also been very involved and helpful in resolving issues regarding claims and warranty work. I have recommended the Lindsay service department to several Phaeton owners that have asked for a reputable dealer. The feedback that I have received from them has been very positive. I would recommend the Lindsay service department to anyone that asks me for a reference. More

I had the alternator in my 2002 Passat replaced in October 2008 by Lindsay VW. The alternator failed in August of 2009 at 10,175 miles of service (the parts and labor carry a one year or 10,000 mile October 2008 by Lindsay VW. The alternator failed in August of 2009 at 10,175 miles of service (the parts and labor carry a one year or 10,000 mile warranty). Because the failure occurred more than 30 miles from Lindsay, I had the vehicle towed to another dealership when the electronics failed and the car shut down. When I discovered it was a repeat failure of the alternator, I contacted VW and Lindsay to get support for the issue. As alternators are not a part that should fail in such a short period of time (reasonable life is over 50k miles), VWofA paid for the part, however the dealer to which the car was towed could not get VWoA to pay for the labor. VWoA claims that they would not cover the labor as they only supply the parts and that I should ask Lindsay for some compensation for the labor. Lindsay claims that they installed the part that they were supplied correctly, so they should not be laible for the additional repair. So, I am out $700+ because an auto manufacturer and its franchise dealer are blaming one another and forgetting about the customer. As the on the ground face of VW, Lindsay should have stood behind its work, fixed the problem itself or paid for the other dealer to fix the problem, and then taken up its claim for compensation with VW...not put me in the middle. Instead I have to pay ransom to get my car fixed and then try to get my money back. UPDATE: After sending certified letters to both VWoA and Lindsay, VWoA called me and restated their position that they woudl not apy any additional fees. At least they called me, Lindsay apparently doesn't care enough to pick up the phone. More
I recently took my gf's Beetle to replace a burned out headlight bulb (retails for $9.00) & check steering vibration (probably from worn unrotated tires). They claimed I needed a complete headlight un headlight bulb (retails for $9.00) & check steering vibration (probably from worn unrotated tires). They claimed I needed a complete headlight unit for $500 versus $45 to just replace a bulb. Service tech claimed the "seal" failed & so moisture would get in and just burn out the new bulb & cause more damage. Nonsense!! There was NOTHING wrong with the seal. The new bulb is in, I've driven in very heavy rain and NO PROBLEMS!! Worn tire caused shim, so they wanted to sell me all new tires at $125 each. I said to just rotate ALL the tires since I can still get 2k more miles then change them in the fall. Service tech only rotated 2 tires and didn't even add air!! Finally, they claimed that brake fluid was dirty and needed to be flushed for an additional $90. More nonsense. Here's the deal: Since car dealers are HURTING BIG TIME due to lack of sales, they are trying to compensate by providing unsuspecting bogus repairs. Find yourself a good local mechanic and forget these guys. BEWARE THIS DEALERSHIP, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!! More
While there service is great, you have to be very careful with what they quote you. They quoted me a great price for tires, what they neglected to inform me is that they were putting on a tire that was 2 mod with what they quote you. They quoted me a great price for tires, what they neglected to inform me is that they were putting on a tire that was 2 models below what I had on there. So lesson for you, question every single detail lest you be screwed. The person I delt with was Ali. More
