O-2 Sales and Service I really don't like leaving reviews like this, in fact I held off after a very sub par sales experience giving the benefit of the doubt. But now after I really don't like leaving reviews like this, in fact I held off after a very sub par sales experience giving the benefit of the doubt. But now after my service experience I feel compelled to leave a very honest review about both experiences. I will start with the fact that we have had over 15 Volkswagens and if I didn't have such luck with the cars my experiences would have not only turned me away from the dealership but from the VW brand as well. It is really that bad. The sales experience was simple, I was a repeat customer coming out of a lease on a 2016 Tiguan, it was a pretty straightforward ask. My wife drove the 2019 and liked it. we were a little but of time out from our lease expiration but after driving my wife wanted the vehicle. I know how to calculate leases and I also know the cost of things. I made an offer for the 2019 which would have been around a $1325 profit including interest mark up not considering any unit bonus, this was validated by the dealership I eventually purchased from. The offer was rejected and when I asked if my offer was possible they told me a payment that was nearly $100 a month higher was the best they were willing to do. This was for a repeat customer. In the end I made a similar offer at a competitor and they accepted it with relatively no pain. I have to add that this was on a vehicle that is pretty easy to find and not by any means rare. There was no trade - pretty cut and dried. They simply in the nicest way booted me with nearly no consideration for any customer loyalty (I also own a 2017 GLI I purchased from them) It is as if they really didn't car if I bought a car or not. Now the service experience. I made an appointment online for a state inspection, 20K service and an ECM update they told me I needed. I show up 30 minutes early and they proceed to accuse me of not having an appointment and then when I played the voice mail from them confirming it they acted as if I made it up, seriously the person that wrote me up was treating me as if I were an inconvenience- it was totally overt. At first the advisor said it would take 2 hours but when I asked for the 20K service they then told me it would take another 1.5 hours. I left the vehicle with them they said at that time it would be compete by 1 PM at the latest. I come to the dealership at 6:30 PM to pick up my car and it was obvious they completely forgot about it and were marginally apologetic about it as they indicated they had "60 cars" today in express and it was just now finished.. (right 8 hours for an oil change). It would have been better for me if they simply told the truth that they had forgotten about it, I honestly would not have been happy but I probably would not be typing this review. They are working on the inspection and the ECM update it as I sit in the service lounge writing this review. They did say they have 2 people on it and I appreciate it but here I am after nearly 10 hours with no car and the dealership basically spending what little personal time I have. In isolation none of these things are that egregious but the sum of the parts is a ridiculously low level of service and the idea of writing reviews is to let people know. I love the VW brand and I am bit of a loyalist but this dealership has some serious work to do. My total experience in the past 2 years has been nothing short of awful. I hope someone takes the time to read this. In short Lindsay, DO BETTER. UPDATE** I feel compelled to add that after all of this I was offered moment of redemption, a bright side as it were, the young man who did indeed assist me at the end demonstrated a little bit of empathy for the situation. His name is Jeremy Branum and he is a credit to the organization. This is not because he did end up covering the $16 state inspection for me, the amount was negligible it was the fact that he genuinely gave a darn. Thanks Jeremy for a much needed moment of redemption. More

Although the car was 70% full. The service manager asked my wife totally fill the car with gas otherwise Lindsay VW will charge $4.00 per gallon, finally they called 2 hours later asking to approve out of pocket wheel alignment expense that MAY resolve the GAS issue and for the n gas smell issue, they don’t know what or where the smell comes from The answer is wheel alignment for a gas leak …… give me a break More
don't recommended inspection test this dealer I was waiting 1 hour and the guy came to me said " your car inspection reject, because of passenger side wiper blade needs to be replaced, cost 55$!!! I was waiting 1 hour and the guy came to me said " your car inspection reject, because of passenger side wiper blade needs to be replaced, cost 55$!!!!!!!" OMG!!. so i told him "I have extra one at my house, So I can change it by myself " and he told me "replace and come back" his behavior was really rude. I bought two extra wiper blades paid each 10 dollars from Costco and I didn't feel any problem in passenger side when i driving my car in rainy days. if i feel any issue in passenger side wiper, why i didn't change?? I have extra one. They gave me inspection rejection just passenger side wiper blade........I spent 2 and half hours today. Actually i bought my new car from this dealer just two years ago. I felt really unhappy and I don't want to buy any car form this dealer and i don't recommend this dealer. They don't know what is business.. They are hungry like the wolf........ More

I normally go over to Fairfax Normally I don't drive all the way out to Lindsay Volkswagen to do any services because of my work schedule and school. I normally go over to Fairfax VW because it's closer. But Fairfax VW hasn't wanted to help me me with anything or even have the time to answer my questions. I called Marco right before service closed and he helped me figure out how to switch out my tire for my spare since it went flat. Thanks Lindsay VW! More

Poor Service Experience, Last visit! I own a 2008 Rabbit that I bought from another dealership in MD but live in VA. I've had two other bad service department experiences at Lindsay which I own a 2008 Rabbit that I bought from another dealership in MD but live in VA. I've had two other bad service department experiences at Lindsay which lead me to start going to another dealership service department but due to convenience I decided to bring my car back to Lindsay for this year's VA Emission and Safety checks. My wife was called by the service department and was told that the total cost would be $1900 however, the individual amounts did not equal $1900. When I called and spoke with the service department rep he told me another price and that he would work on the price for me. When I went to pick the car up 4 days later the amount for one of the items (throttle reset) was approx. $40 higher than what he told me over the phone. When I mention that, he walked away and a few minutes later came back with a different final bill. I was annoyed but decided to pay the almost $1700 for my car and get on with the rest of my day due to other plans. That evening we got in car after it sat for about 6 hours and the check engine light came on again. We drove straight to the dealership but the service department was closed. We called and were told by the operator that a service manager was still there but when we were transferred we got another gentleman who said no managers were available but he took a message for the manager to call us back and as of writing this review NO manager has ever called us back. We dropped the car off the following day and were told we would have to wait until Monday for someone to take a look at the car until another service department rep stepped up and suggested that it might just be a lose wire from the previous service and had someone take a look. After waiting for about 10 mins we were told that it was the same problem that was fixed just a few days earlier. Having other plans we decided to leave the car and were told that we would be called on Monday. My Wife waited all day for the call and no one from the dealership called all day so she decided to call at 4:30 and had to leave a message and wait for the service department rep to call her back. When she was finally called back the rep told her that the same item was not working and that they could clean it for around $120 and if that didn't work, that it would need to be replaced and the cost for that would be around $700 but they won't know until cleaning the part first. He then mentioned a new problem that would cost around $500 but said if it were his car he wouldn't take care of it at this time. We have been jerked around now four times by this service department’s obvious lack of respect for us and will never purchase a car from this dealership nor take our car here again for service. I would rather drive the 50 miles to the dealership the car was purchased from that values my business than Lindsay. More
Absolutely the worst WORST service experience EVER Today I dropped off my 2015 GTI which was purchased new from Lindsay April of last year. The vehicle had thrown a check engine light and started runni Today I dropped off my 2015 GTI which was purchased new from Lindsay April of last year. The vehicle had thrown a check engine light and started running in limp mode. I was not so happily greeted by Mr Herman who seemed like it was a hassle to have to do his job and write my service order. After the vehicle went back into service two hours later Mr Herman advised me cylinder 2 had lost compression and I would be put in a loaner while the vehicle was looked at further. While getting some belongings from my vehicle I happened to see the technician who was servicing my vehicle. I said it sounds bad according to Mr Herman at which point the tech said he had pulled the #2 spark plug and coil pack but had not trouble shot compression or other concerns past that point. Visibly seeing the plug and coil on the engine cover both appeared normal and intact and no mention of a failed plug. I left the vehicle around 2:30 and later received a call from Mr Herman at 5:30 saying a piece of plug porcelain was in my cylinder and the plugs were not VW and I would be charged $400 dollars as warranty would not be in effect. My first concern was I did not authorize any billable work..secondly when questioned I was threatened my warranty would be flagged and I had to pay the service charge as the plugs were already installed. It so happened to be a coincidence while my vehicle was in the shop a recall was performed on a suction pump within the gas tank. When I questioned the service a second time and asked for copies of the printed scan I was told copies would not be provided as this was proprietary documentation...Mr Herman continued his warranty threats stating my vehicle was decatted and modified with a cold air intake. He said if he had to dig deeper this information would be supplied to VW and my warranty would certainly be voided. Mr Herman didn't realize my vehicle had a catalytic converter and continued his threading rhetoric telling stories about people having vehicles impounded and going to jail... Update: After paying for new plugs my vehicle is still getting check engine lights and running rough. The thought of returning to this dealer and being threatened and strong armed into paying for more unnecessary services is too much, my next course of action will be contacting consumers affairs and the manufacturer in order to get service and compensation for this horrific experience. Avoid this service advisor at all costs, Not only will I never purchase another $30,000 dollar vehicle from this dealer I will recommend any and everyone I come in contact with to do the same. More
