Trent was very helpful and accommodating in the purchase of my new Jetta. No complaints there at all. I did feel too fast-talked into signing up for a high-end extended warranty from the charming and chat of my new Jetta. No complaints there at all. I did feel too fast-talked into signing up for a high-end extended warranty from the charming and chatty finance guy, who's name I've forgotten, and regretted it later. Left a bad taste in my mouth about an otherwise stress-free buying experience. More
Trent was cordial and informative. He followed up when I asked, and did not bother me when I didn't. I had many questions and concerns, and he addressed them courteously and professionally. Once I decide asked, and did not bother me when I didn't. I had many questions and concerns, and he addressed them courteously and professionally. Once I decided on a vehicle, he had to do some work to make one they had in stock meet my needs. He was willing to do that (wheel swap), and I changed my mind, and wanted the Panoramic Sunroof. He had to locate the vehicle and get it shipped in. It all worked seamlessly. More

I wanted a car not in their inventory but on the way to their location. In the meantime, they wanted to finialize the deal so badly by the end of the month they tried to get paperwork done before the car their location. In the meantime, they wanted to finialize the deal so badly by the end of the month they tried to get paperwork done before the car arrived. They failed in all aspects and I wasted 3 days of my life there. Now they have the car, I refuse to work with those incompitent folks and they refuse to trade the car to another dealership b/c they know its me. Don't bother with them, plenty of other Volkswagen dealers in the area. More
I purchased a used Passat in Sept 09 as a CPO vehicle. I was ripped off royaly, they sold me the car for 3500 dealer retail over the starting point of negotiation should have been (NADA). I know they are t was ripped off royaly, they sold me the car for 3500 dealer retail over the starting point of negotiation should have been (NADA). I know they are there to make money but that is just plain stealing to me! My tax assesment recently came from Virginia and the car was vauled at HALF what i paid for. The sales man and manager should be ashamed of themselves! It was back at the dealer 4 times in one month for faulty equipment. The service team broke a keychain and then denined it! The car was there for 3 days before someone bothered to look at it. I could make a list of another 10 complaints as well. When you call this dealer, you will never get a person besides the receptionist who just transfers you to people who dont answer the phone and don't bother to call you back! Stay far far away from Linday VW in Sterling unless you want to be cheated and lied to! More
I had the alternator in my 2002 Passat replaced in October 2008 by Lindsay VW. The alternator failed in August of 2009 at 10,175 miles of service (the parts and labor carry a one year or 10,000 mile October 2008 by Lindsay VW. The alternator failed in August of 2009 at 10,175 miles of service (the parts and labor carry a one year or 10,000 mile warranty). Because the failure occurred more than 30 miles from Lindsay, I had the vehicle towed to another dealership when the electronics failed and the car shut down. When I discovered it was a repeat failure of the alternator, I contacted VW and Lindsay to get support for the issue. As alternators are not a part that should fail in such a short period of time (reasonable life is over 50k miles), VWofA paid for the part, however the dealer to which the car was towed could not get VWoA to pay for the labor. VWoA claims that they would not cover the labor as they only supply the parts and that I should ask Lindsay for some compensation for the labor. Lindsay claims that they installed the part that they were supplied correctly, so they should not be laible for the additional repair. So, I am out $700+ because an auto manufacturer and its franchise dealer are blaming one another and forgetting about the customer. As the on the ground face of VW, Lindsay should have stood behind its work, fixed the problem itself or paid for the other dealer to fix the problem, and then taken up its claim for compensation with VW...not put me in the middle. Instead I have to pay ransom to get my car fixed and then try to get my money back. UPDATE: After sending certified letters to both VWoA and Lindsay, VWoA called me and restated their position that they woudl not apy any additional fees. At least they called me, Lindsay apparently doesn't care enough to pick up the phone. More
Well where do I begin... let's start with the rear windows falling out and into the doors on the very first day we picked up our new 09 jetta. It was discovered that the window tracks were installed u windows falling out and into the doors on the very first day we picked up our new 09 jetta. It was discovered that the window tracks were installed upside down in Mexico. Lindsay had this car for over 4 months on their lot before we bought it and no one there checked these windows? This car was not even PDI'd (Pre Delivery Inspected) probably. Shame! Week two... we receive a Safety Recall from NHTSA warning us that the front drive shafts could separate from the trans-axle causing us to have a "severe crash" because the bolts that hold the axles to the transmission were improperly torqued at the factory in Mexico.... nice! VW had to recall over 22,000 cars. Day after... No sooner were we able to make an appointment for this serious defect, the transmission (a DSG) started acting funny. This got so bad that it would surge forward from red lights, shift gears up and down and down and up like nuts while gently accelerating... and slip/pause jerk/stall while trying to merge with high speed freeway traffic that nearly caused us to have an accident!!!! At 623 miles our DSG transmission was completely acting CRAZY... it was KAPUT! Turns out Lindsay VW and VWoA both knew well about this serious and potentially dangerous DSG malfunction for more than a year before selling us this car for our 16 year old son to use! There was NO disclosure of this serious and possibly deadly defect when they shook our hands and handed us the keys... and they KNEW! They told us they did....... wow! Hold on this GETS WORSE! Long story short, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has just recently opened (7/17/09) a Federal Investigation into VW - DSG malfunctions because of the numerous and horrifying complaints that were recently filed with them... NHTSA and CAS (Center for Auto Safety in Wash.DC) have estimate that this may have far reaching consequences for VWoA, between 50,000 and 200,000 vehicles since Audi's also share the DSG tranny in their A3 and TT models, which have also filed malfunctioning reports. VW opened a vol. recall because of a faulted temp.sensor... but the true reason DSG's are failing are faulted Mechatronic Units, warped clutch packs and/or bent clutch forks. Don't be fooled... DSG's, at this price range, weren't ready for prime time. NHTSA has not closed their investigation into DSG failures. In fact VW DSG failures are now being reported worldwide. Do you own either a VW or an Audi with a DSG or Direct Shift Gearbox transmission? If you're having issues with its performance get it checked out ASAP and contact the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236... good luck... We were once loving VW loyal customers... The rating above should really be -10 stars for both Lindsay and VWoA. Check the latest 2009 JD Powers & Assoc. rating on VW dependability record, they are at the very bottom of the list. Check it out. BYE BYE VW for good. More
I recently took my gf's Beetle to replace a burned out headlight bulb (retails for $9.00) & check steering vibration (probably from worn unrotated tires). They claimed I needed a complete headlight un headlight bulb (retails for $9.00) & check steering vibration (probably from worn unrotated tires). They claimed I needed a complete headlight unit for $500 versus $45 to just replace a bulb. Service tech claimed the "seal" failed & so moisture would get in and just burn out the new bulb & cause more damage. Nonsense!! There was NOTHING wrong with the seal. The new bulb is in, I've driven in very heavy rain and NO PROBLEMS!! Worn tire caused shim, so they wanted to sell me all new tires at $125 each. I said to just rotate ALL the tires since I can still get 2k more miles then change them in the fall. Service tech only rotated 2 tires and didn't even add air!! Finally, they claimed that brake fluid was dirty and needed to be flushed for an additional $90. More nonsense. Here's the deal: Since car dealers are HURTING BIG TIME due to lack of sales, they are trying to compensate by providing unsuspecting bogus repairs. Find yourself a good local mechanic and forget these guys. BEWARE THIS DEALERSHIP, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!! More
While there service is great, you have to be very careful with what they quote you. They quoted me a great price for tires, what they neglected to inform me is that they were putting on a tire that was 2 mod with what they quote you. They quoted me a great price for tires, what they neglected to inform me is that they were putting on a tire that was 2 models below what I had on there. So lesson for you, question every single detail lest you be screwed. The person I delt with was Ali. More
