I am from out of state spoke over the phone with Ed about a van (which I did purchase) that I needed for my son due to upcoming heart surgery which I stated. They gave me a price over the phone then when I a van (which I did purchase) that I needed for my son due to upcoming heart surgery which I stated. They gave me a price over the phone then when I decided to purchase it the price went up $300 as per owner. We were at their mercy so to speak due to time and this being a specialty vehicle. We drove the 2 1/2 hrs to purchase the vehicle. We had certified funds for 75% of the price and credit card or personal check for the rest (not knowing total price). Owner refused to take additional payment form after over an hour, tears, showing them our son's website for his fundraiser they finally took it. The car had a crack in the windshield that was not disclosed and they would not compensate to fix it. Then we were charged an additional $200 for document fees which I asked is that for our registration and license plates, he stated yes. Also stated when plates come in we will contact you and you will only have to pay $15 Fed Ex fee. This was not the case. I had to contact them after driving with expired plates and then was charged $190. They claim the original $200 was for filing only the paperwork. I was clear when I asked and he was clear when he answered. They are scammers as far as I am concerned. Very greedy and poor customer service. More
The sales man was not friendly. He immediatley judged me and my boyfriend since we looked young. He automatically felt that we wouldn't qualify for a Suburu. He made alot of assumptions based on how young w and my boyfriend since we looked young. He automatically felt that we wouldn't qualify for a Suburu. He made alot of assumptions based on how young we looked. He was very personal with his questions on our age or what we did for a living. We left never went back and purchased the car at Ramsey Suburu. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. More
I received a great deal on a 2012 Subaru Forester. I worked with Clayton Earle in internet sales. I received a quoted out-the-door price (which I found hard to obtain at other dealerships) that include worked with Clayton Earle in internet sales. I received a quoted out-the-door price (which I found hard to obtain at other dealerships) that included the documentation fee, taxes, etc. No hidden fees, no strings attached, and no haggling. The price quoted was the price we paid. Isn't that how buying a car should be? Their documentation fee is reasonable compared with other dealers in NJ who levy doc fees that seem as if an army of lawyers scrutinize their paperwork and a team of NASA scientists inspect the vehicle. Good on Liberty for not overcharging on what is essentially an administrative fee. My wife and I were Honda owners, but are now happy owners of our first Subaru! More
Same experience as the other post regarding NON-REFUNDABLE deposits. I gave them my credit card info by phone and had a verbal agreement that it is refundable (Majority of NJ dealers have no is NON-REFUNDABLE deposits. I gave them my credit card info by phone and had a verbal agreement that it is refundable (Majority of NJ dealers have no issues with refunding deposits) then i get a sales order via email with the terms on the back missing. Emailed about the availability of the car and they did not meet the time frame therefor i purchased elsewhere. This is a vehicle that was already in-route to the dealer and not a special/customized ordered car. Dealer did not even have a model of the ordered car for a test drive or even to look at. Poor customer relations, attitude is that they have your $500 deposit and will not try to work something out, other than to say buy a car from us. More
The price was great! Too bad that once they got our money the service was a joke. When we went to pick up the car we had to wait 45 minutes for our sales guy to even show up. Than the car wasn't even money the service was a joke. When we went to pick up the car we had to wait 45 minutes for our sales guy to even show up. Than the car wasn't even ready. We were told that it would be about 2 weeks before we had our plates. After 2 weeks we were told that they finally came in and that we should see them in a few days. Well another 2 weeks later and with an expired temp tag we still didn't have the plates. Also we are still waiting on that touch up paint. Then today in the mail we got a notice that those lazy butts never sent in out insurance information to our insurance company. So yeah this place was great on price but, be careful that once they have your money its all down hill. More
Liberty in general and Clayton in particular were very professional. No hard sales pitch or games. I bought a beautiful 2012 outback for a fair price. My trade was also evaluated fairly. No last minute s professional. No hard sales pitch or games. I bought a beautiful 2012 outback for a fair price. My trade was also evaluated fairly. No last minute surprises. The agreed price and deal was exactly what I walked out with. Do not hesitate to make a trip to this fine dealership. More
Although I have purchased (and sold) many cars in years gone by (in this country and abroad), I haven't purchased or sold a car in over 17 years, so this car-buying scene has been a nightmare until I dealt gone by (in this country and abroad), I haven't purchased or sold a car in over 17 years, so this car-buying scene has been a nightmare until I dealt with Clayton Earle, Internet Sales, at Liberty Subaru. He was friendly, polite, helpful, knowledgeable and overall a good sales person. My experiences with other dealers has been disappointing to say the least. So many "games" are played with the price that it becomes frustrating. With Clayton as my contact I was able to get a straight description of the "out the door" price components. No other dealers that I contacted seemed to be able to do that. Most just dazzle the potential customers with all sorts of irrelevant dollar amounts and try to conceal the "true cost" to the customer. It makes sense for customers to negotiate and for dealers to recognize that is part of doing business. Some dealers do not and often leave customers no choice but to move on. More
Extremely satisfied with dealership and most especially with Clayton Earle who was very pleasant to work with ... no gimmicks or hard selling, just the facts and straight to the point. with Clayton Earle who was very pleasant to work with ... no gimmicks or hard selling, just the facts and straight to the point. My experience with Liberty was excellent. Liberty offered a very good price on a Forester thru http://TrueCar.com. Given the recent shortage of Japanese cars, I fully expected the dealership to try offered a very good price on a Forester thru http://TrueCar.com. Given the recent shortage of Japanese cars, I fully expected the dealership to try to avoid making the sale at the TrueCar price. However -- ISSUE NEVER EVEN RAISED! Because of vehicle shortage had to wait for delivery. Dealer was upfront about supply problems was only a bit optimistic in claiming when the car would be available. Did most of the deal over the phone. Liberty made it easy to apply for financing, and was helpful in describing the Subaru warranty plans. Never pushed for silly add-ons to the car. Dealt mostly with Clayton in internet sales. My visit to the dealer to pick up the car was a non-event -- it was ready and waiting. Signed the papers quickly -- again, no attempts at silly up-sell attempts -- and drove away. More
Never give a deposit for a car to this dealer! If you ever change your mind, they will not refund it. The dealership did not want to refund my $500 simply because I went to another dealer. No amount of p ever change your mind, they will not refund it. The dealership did not want to refund my $500 simply because I went to another dealer. No amount of pleading or civil conversation will work. I gave bigger deposits to Lexus, Jaguar, Audi and Lincoln and never had issues. AVOID THIS DEALER AT ALL COSTS! More
