My first positive experience at a car dealership I've actually dealt with this dealership on two previous occasions. Both were negative experiences, but the third time pays for all, right? On this occasion, I drove in, found a car I loved, and was able to get an excellent deal and terrific value for my fairly old trade-in. At the end of the transaction, which was refreshingly quick, I left with a beautiful car (the exact model and package I wanted) for a price I was comfortable with...and at 0% interest. Yes, there were the usual car dealership shenanigans, like asking me to take delivery of a car color I didn't want just because it happened to be on the lot. But given the outcome, I can't complain about that one bit. When I was offered additional options like Simoniz and insurance (which I declined), I was still treated with courtesy. An overall excellent experience...both my salesman and the finance associate were great to work with. More
Shady Business Practices I went in January 2016 because I needed a car to get to and from an internship. They had a used Chevy Cruze in my price range so I headed in excited. I went in January 2016 because I needed a car to get to and from an internship. They had a used Chevy Cruze in my price range so I headed in excited. Ended up buying myself and my brother a car that day. It took a few hours because they were "busy" but it wasn't a terrible experience. Then comes the terrible experience. Within a few weeks of buying the car, my check engine light was on. I bring it in to get it checked out and they tell me the problem isn't covered under warranty and will cost $300. I needed the car fixed so I told them to go ahead and fix it. Picked it up no problem but was frustrated that I paid a lot for an extended warranty that apparently wouldn't work when I needed it. Anyway, a few weeks pass and my check engine light is on again so I bring it to the dealer. The person in the service department told me that my car is covered under a Chevrolet Warranty and that I can take it to a Chevy dealer to be fixed. I bring it over to a Chevy dealer and they run the VIN only to tell me that my car has a branded title and the warranty is no good. I bring it back to Hyundai completely livid and they assure me the other dealer lied. While sitting there, they "called" a different dealer, ran the VIN, and found that the other dealer was lying and sent my car to a different Chevy dealer to be fixed. Whatever, fine. Fast forward a few months and my car will barely even drive because of some issue under the hood. I bring it right to the Chevy dealer that Hyundai told me fixed my car the last time figuring I'd cut out the middle man this time around. Only this Chevy dealer has no record of my car ever being there and when they ran the VIN they had the same branded title result. I went back to Hyundai asking them to give me the money back that I put into the car since they sold me a branded title. They refused and the only thing they would do was take my car as a trade in and get me into a crappy used Hyundai. I needed a car to get around and felt like I had no other options so I went along with it even though I greatly regret it now. Now I'm driving a car I hate and paying a hundred dollars more a month for it. I owe so much on the new loan that I can't trade it in and I have to deal with this horrible dealership whenever I have a problem. And, to top it off, the other car I had bought that first day for my brother has had to be serviced multiple times and most recently they tried to swindle him out of an extra thousand bucks to fix something that isn't broken. When my dad talked to them, they said he wouldn't understand because he doesn't know about cars. Jokes on them - my dad is a mechanic. Unless you want to deal with shady people who sell cars with branded titles and won't make right on their mistakes, stay away from this dealership. I cannot wait until I break even on my loan and can say good riddance to Lia Hyundai forever. More
