Thank you Gene! I just really wanted to say that Gene went above and beyond with his support in helping me purchase a car. I am a teacher in Hartford, and just don't I just really wanted to say that Gene went above and beyond with his support in helping me purchase a car. I am a teacher in Hartford, and just don't have time to worry about repair. I had purchased a used car a few months ago from a family friend which ended up having some computer issues, and literally wouldn't start as I was arriving at the dealer. Gene helped me weigh my options at different priced cars, and at no point while I was there did I feel pressured or intimidated by his salesmanship. We went over the 2016 cars and weighed my options with the 2017 cars, and ended up purchasing a 2017 elantra due to the safety features offered. I really stressed that I didn't want to have to have any worry as far as things breaking or maintenance goes, and he helped situate and explain the warranties offered for the car I was purchasing. I was having a really rough time after the car troubles I had with my old car, and it was just great to be able to take that weight off of my shoulders. He was beyond honest and supportive, and even offered me a ride home since my car wouldn't start. I came back the next day, and he was willing to stay later than his shift in order to finalize the purchase. I have an insane schedule due to my work, and it just meant a lot to me that he was willing to be as supportive as he was. Overall, I just really want to say thank you. This has been my first year as a teacher, and that alone has been a rewarding but really taxing experience. I can't say how much I appreciate having the peace of mind with this new car and being able to just focus on my work without the added stress of cars breaking/malfunctioning, all while it being considerably safe. This Dealership is not Ethical- They scam the elderly! Beware!!!! As I write, my siblings and I retrying to recover approx $9000.00 Klodian Stringa (manager) and Stephen Katizney (financial manager) have o Beware!!!! As I write, my siblings and I retrying to recover approx $9000.00 Klodian Stringa (manager) and Stephen Katizney (financial manager) have overcharged my 86 year old veteran father! This dealership takes advantage of the elderly! This is how it went down in a timeline: - About 10 days ago, my father went in to purchase a 2017 fully loaded Sonata he had negotiated for. It was supposed to be fully loaded as stated in the brochure and conversations prior to the purchase! My father is the only driver for his household and both my parents are still pretty active in their community. They wanted the safety features to continue on with a good driving record and safety for all. Sounds good, right!? ALL FOR IT! - My father went back to the same dealership he has gone to for years because he trusts them- doesn't feel like he needs the sharp eyes of his kids to look over his shoulder to protect him against being hosed! - My father signs the papers, trusting that he is getting what he negotiated for, drives home and starts studying the manual and trying out the features~ - 3-4 days later, he still can't get the automatic cruise that keeps a safe distance in traffic or the automatic slowing/stopping feature that reacts faster than he can to keep all safe. He calls LIA HYUNDAI OF HARTFORD to ask what he is doing wrong. They say the car doesn't have those features! "But they were in the brochure for the car I negotiated for! Sorry, Mr. _________, but that car does come with those features. You have to upgrade to the 2018!" HYUNDIA MADE A MISTAKE, GAVE HIM THE WRONG CAR AND SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT - "IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS..." - My father brings back the new car. HYUNDAI TAKES THE CAR THEY MADE A MISTAKE ON AND GIVES MY FATHER A TRADE IN VALUE OF $22,0000 ON A CAR HE JUST PAID $28,000 4 days before!!! The sales crew starts spinning around numbers that my dad doesn't really follow, "but they're taking GOOD CARE of me", he says! My father thinks they are giving him $22,000 for his original 2013 trade in and they don't correct him! My father decides to lease a 2018 instead for which he signs a contract to pay over $340 a month for 3 years PLUS his $8500.00 trade in ! What my father doesn't understand is he can get that same fully loaded Sonata leased for $334.00 a month WITH NO MONEY DOWN, & KEEP HIS ORIGINAL TRADE IN ($8500 trade in value) to give to one of his college age grand kids! Lia Hyundai of Hartford not only keeps his original trade in- again, worth $8500 trade in value, but also charges him closing fees a second time - AMOUNTING TO APPROXIMATELY A $9-9,500.00 DIFFERENCE FOR WHAT IS ACTUAL MARKET VALUE, INSTEAD OF DOING THE RIGHT THING AND MAKING GOOD ON THEIR MISTAKE! If this is not resolved amicably, I will post the paperwork with brochures and make sure this is on all their social media, Better Business Bureau and any other review forums! Hmmm, I also think a news station or two may be interested in this story! The managers met with my brother, who used to own a dealership himself, and my father last Friday. There said it was out of their hands and that they needed to talk to the owner. My brother gave them 4 ways they could fairly and amicably take care of this. So far they are not offering any responsibility for what has gone down. STAY TUNED - I WILL UPDATE THIS WITH THE OUTCOME FOR GOOD OR BAD. THINK TWICE ABOUT USING THIS DEALERSHIP FOR VULNERABLE FAMILY MEMBERS!!!!! 10-11-2017 Klodian Stringa of Lia Hyundai of Hartford talked to my brother and offered to make this right, but said he needed more time to "talk to the owners." Well today my brother talked to the General Manager and was told that if my father wants to buy out the lease, they can start all over again and sell him a new car! My father is out almost $10,000 ! We are getting NBC Connecticut Responds to Consumer Complaints- I have already talked to a producer and they want the paperwork. As stated earlier, I am going to post all the paperwork sans my father's personal information here on all the social reviews and I am also getting Consumer protection involved at the Attorney General's Office. This is not a disgruntled customer but one with a legitimate complaint that needs to be rectified. It's obvious that this dealership is counting on people feeling helpless and feeling too overwhelmed by what to do! I called Lia Hyundai of Hartford to let Klodian Stringa know that we are going to play this out. More
