Unfortunately, when a vehicle’s warranty has lapsed, the cost of repair is no longer covered by the manufacturer. This is true of automobiles or any industry under a limited warranty. The Lexus Warranty coverage is 4 years / 50,000 miles for the basic warranty, and 6 years / 70,000 for powertrain coverage to major components. While Lexus prides itself in its outstanding reliability ratings – based on rating agencies like Consumer Reports – it is still a limited warranty. While the vehicle may well exceed the life of the warranty, there may be certain parts that would need repair over time. Vehicle dashboards, specifically if left under the Florida sun or other elements may be subject to repair eventually succumbing to excessive heat. As Lexus has denied the repairs of these vehicles past the limited warranty allotted time, they are not covering repairs for these items. Lexus dealers can only claim warranty work if it is approved by the manufacturer. Dealers are not able to decide what is covered and what is not covered. It is up to the manufacturers to set those terms. While Lexus of Kendal would be more than happy to assist you with the repair, the dealer has limited capacity to change the warranty terms. If you do wish for assistance with the repair, we may be able to offer a discounted rate. Also in many cases for unforeseen repair costs, the dealer also offers the same cash 0% financing on auto repair. Thank you for your understanding.

I’d like to reiterate a few important points: I reached out to the owner Chris Roberts and heard back from the General Manager Tom Gilbert stating his dealership would not be responsible. These gentlemen clearly want to divorce themselves from the Lexus manufacturer which has already enabled them as a Lexus dealer to pay for the repairs to the windshield. Gentlemen: Please note the manufacturer has already offered to fix it under the Customer Support Program (Takata Economic Loss Class Action Settlement).   Furthermore, by way of legal agreement, the ZLZ warranty enhancement coverage extends to my vehicle until January 8, 2026.  Surely you can negotiate your payment with the manufacturer better than I can with a little effort on your part. Certainly you are in a better position than I am to talk to the Lexus HQ executives (Ms. Peggy Turner, Stephen Spinelli, and Andrew Gilleland) and get the work approved. You can also call their executive assistant, "Don" (no last name was provided) at 716-941-2295. That would be a start if you are truly committed to customer fairness. After all, within the warranty documents that were provided to me from the dealer you will find their pledge to customers which I quote from the document I sent your agency: “ to further demonstrate our commitment to our customer satisfaction, occasionally we may establish a special policy adjustment to pay for specific repairs that are no longer covered by the warranty.” Gentlemen, this is such an occasion.
