To make sure that we were all on the same page, the salesman showed us a used non-hybrid model the dealer was currently using that had everything we wanted regarding colors and equipment. Because they didn't have any of these in stock, they looked around the country and found one "exactly" meeting our desires. They assured us that it was exactly what we wanted and we waited several days for it to be delivered. They told us that we could trust them to make sure it was everything we wanted, but they wanted us to purchase the car sight, unseen. Despite our hesitancies, they assured us that we could trust them, over and over. Nice experience so far,right? Many people called us, talked with us, communication was great. When they received it they told us they wanted to "make sure everything was right and wanted to detail it for us." Great! On the day scheduled to pick it up, unfortunately our salesman was out, very sick. So another salesperson met my wife at the agreed upon delivery time. When my my wife arrived, she happily saw that it was the color we wanted on the outside. Beautiful van. We had waited many days to finally receive it. Then, the saleslady opened it up....it was White interior, not the black we ordered and were assured we would get. My wife asked for the sales mgr. Not there. General mgr. Not there. My wife: "What can we do? We don't want a white interior!" Crickets. My wife was told to drive the van home and return it the next day. She was not told that we didn't have to accept it. Furthermore, she couldn't explain any of the details of the features. In fact the lady argued whether certain features were even available on this "limited" model. The lady said: I've never sold a hybrid before so I don't really know much about them. When my wife sat in the driver's seat, everything was empty. The gas tank was empty and even more importantly, the battery was completly discharged. It was less than 1% charge! It's a hybrid. "Just come back tomorrow when your salesman comes back. I'm sure they'll fix it all for you," she said. So my wife took the van home and cried as she came in the door. "I don't know what to do" she said. I immediately called the salesman, Elvis, who was also shocked that we got the we got the wrong color. "No, no, no!" he said. Because he was so sick, though, he said he would talk with the sales mgr and call us back, but no-one called. The next day, I went in to talk with someone. Everybody seemed too busy to talk with us. Remember, I just bought a $50k van from them...was it too much to ask? So they sent a very young associate sales mgr out to talk with me. What he said first, said it all: "I'm sorry, but you took possession." Then I asked him if he had any knowledge of our purchase of the car, his answer? "No, but Cisco was the one that worked on it for you and he's gone." So I asked for the GM. Well, he's out and he's running errands. "Won't be back today, but I'll tell Cisco about everything, and I'm sure he'll give you all a call." Finally, one of the other sales mgrs came out to talk with me. His first response to the wrong interior? "You took possession of the car." After several back and forths, he agreed to review the situation with Cisco and/or the GM. He did bring out some leather samples and thought about possibly re-leathering the car but no guarantee's. He said he'd call us after talking with the others. 2 days later...."crickets." We're still waiting, 3 days later. I did call the sales person, Elvis today. He's finally back at work, but I had to call him. Nobody has reached out to us with any form of communication. I guess I expected at least some form of professional courtesy after purchasing one of their new cars. But there has been nothing, and I'm pretty sure that if we didn't pursue it, neither would they. The jury's still out on how this dealer will respond to this. I must say that everything seemed perfect during the purchasing. So much so that we considered replacing my old truck with a new one, too. Not likely, now. Who wouldn't feel disheartened, frustrated, mislead, and untrusting of this dealer after an experience like this. One final comment. If one see's the responses made by the sales mgr's to these comments, one might also notice that there are no edits to the posts. Considering the lack of responses and communications from this dealer to our issue, I would assume that nothing is changed. More
