OUR HISTORY:
Edward and Tyyne Lahti, a couple of young Finnish immigrants, founded the Lahti family business in 1928. Ed had received about ten years of orientation to the automobile business as a laborer in new vehicle manufacturing plants in the Cleveland area. Having learned the trade of metalworking, the thought of using this skill independently became an exciting idea, which eventually led the young couple to Leominster to open their very own auto body repair shop. And so it began, Leominster's first body shop, then known as "Fix-It Auto Body." Their reputation grew as quality service satisfied local residents. Their motto was "If we can't fix it, give it away."
The early years were not easy years; first the Depression, and then World War II. The war became frightening in a very personal way when their oldest son, Edwin, was drafted into military service and shipped to the Far East. By this time, there were three other little ones at home: Benjamin, Daniel, and Rachel, requiring Edward and Tyyne's attention as well. The end of the war, however, brought a sense of joy and serenity, and even success. Their son was delivered safely home from the jaws of the enemy and was working in the family business with his dad.
As the years passed, the business grew. Used cars were added and by the fifties, the Lahti's had acquired a new car franchise selling Nash vehicles. By the time the sixties rolled around, the two younger sons, Benjamin and Daniel, had also decided to pursue their careers in the family business.
It wasn't long before a merger of Nash and Hudson companies became known as American Motors, manufacturing interesting new products like Ramblers and later more exciting cars like Javelins and AMXs. By 1970, American Motors owned Jeep and consequently, the Lahti Dealership was on a whole new course. Later, American Motors consolidated forces with Renault to produce passenger cars, but Chrysler Corporation bought it all in 1987.
Long before this time, the elder Lahti's had relinquished control of the business to their three sons, each one overseeing specific areas of the business. Unfortunately, life consists of valley experiences as well as mountaintop. Beginning in the fall of 1992, the family found themselves in the valley for a year and a half, suffering the loss of both parents and their younger brother, Dan. However, life did go on.
In February of 2002, Benjamin's Son-in-Law, Jason Fournier, joined the business. With his arrival, Lahti's has entered into it's third generation and into the age of e-commerce.
The evolution of a family business from 1928 to the twenty-first century, a period of mind-boggling technological advances, makes for quite an adventure story. However, there are some things that do not change - must not change! The Lahti family is proud of its Christian heritage, with a personal philosophy as well as a business philosophy: that a faith in the Sovereign God is foundational to the success in all aspects of life.

Very enjoyable experience Buying a Jeep at Lahti's was very a very relaxing experience compared to other dealerships I visited.this week. Fred Perla was a joy to talk to while going over the details of the Jeep Compass. We communicated throughout the day until I had the time to come in and see him and I'm glad I did. When it came down to discussing the trade Ron Booth went the extra mile and ensured the trade was fair which made buying a Jeep here effortless. The day the Jeep was picked up I got the experience of getting the vehicle inspection and talking with Jason while enjoying the showroom. Overall a great team. More

But Jason and his team tirelessly looked around for my "perfect" Cherokee. From the beginning of my journey into buying a new vehicle, Jason was always accessible and informative. He let me know what he was seeing and was straightforward with me on availability and cost. Communication was excellent. Ron, dug deep into the available vehicles and called place after place to find what I was looking for. It was a pleasure working with this group. To me, a new car is huge investment and can be intimidating. Jason made the whole experience non-stressful and very easy. Consider me a happy customer! Returning Customer!!! I recently purchased a jeep, (my second) through Lahtis. I did not have the greatest experience my first time around, and was determined not to return I recently purchased a jeep, (my second) through Lahtis. I did not have the greatest experience my first time around, and was determined not to return. I don't like to be taken advantage of because I wasn't a frequent buyer, and didn't ask the right questions. I was referred to Brian Long by a friend. His infectious personality made it easy to not only purchase my 3rd jeep, but to purchase a brand new one. This is also a note to all sales persons as well as a W.T.G. Brian. My advice to all: Treat your customers the same, whether they are browsing or purchasing We may want to shop around but a great sales person will bring us back to their establishment. I am always going to be a jeep owner, and if I feel unwelcome, I am not buying. More

After a long day at an awful Jeep dealership in Lowell I went to Lahti's where I had the most pleasant experience working with Dianne. She by far is the best sales.person I have had the experience of dealing with. I felt absolutely comfortable, she didn't pressure me into a vehicle and she listened to what I wanted and what I was saying. She gets 5 GOLD stars in my book!!! I will be going back when it's time to trade in and I will for sure be looking for Dianne. More

Satisfied Customer I'm relatively new to the area and was looking to trade in my 2007 Chrysler Sebring for a Jeep Cherokee. Did some research and discovered that Lahti's I'm relatively new to the area and was looking to trade in my 2007 Chrysler Sebring for a Jeep Cherokee. Did some research and discovered that Lahti's was the closet dealer so I paid them a visit and met with Sales Consultant Brian Long. Worked with Brian on a number of different options and we determined that a used Compass was probably the best fit for me in terms of price and the type of vehicle that I was looking for. Discovered the next day, however, that purchasing the vehicle wasn't viable because of an unforeseen credit issue so Brian was able to put together an even better deal leasing a brand new 2015 Compass which I qualified for.I found Brian to be a very knowledgeable and personable professional and decided to stay with Lahti's and not look anywhere else because they are one of the very few if not only dealer in the area that specializes only in new and late model Jeep's. The last time I purchased a brand new vehicle was 25 years ago so it really felt good driving my 2015 Jeep Compass off the lot on New Year's Eve with that new car smell. Happy with the deal and so far very happy with the vehicle. What a great way to ring in the New Year! Thanks to Brian and company for working with me on putting this deal together. More
