Charlie Engelhardt makes it worth the 3 hr drive If I'm honest....buying a car is my LEAST favorite thing to do. In fact I DREAD IT!!! BUT this was not the case with Labadie Toyota in Bay City, Mich If I'm honest....buying a car is my LEAST favorite thing to do. In fact I DREAD IT!!! BUT this was not the case with Labadie Toyota in Bay City, Michigan. Charlie was in contact with my husband via phone, text & email including price negotiations, pictures & many questions about the vehicle we were interested in. Most of the negotiations were done PRIOR to arriving at the dealership. Who wants to spend all day sitting & WAITING inside a dealership....now all we had to do was see the vehicle & drive it! We drove almost 3 hrs & were very pleased that it was EXACTLY what we wanted & everything Charlie promised it would be! Charlie knew we were coming from out of town & he actually drove us by our hotel we were staying at & also make suggestions to the best places to eat, while waiting to see the finance guy to finish the deal! We would do the 3 hour drive AGAIN, next time we need a vehicle!! We will DEFINITELY call Charlie!!!!! Thanks Charlie/Labadie Toyota Happy Husband & Wife :) More

Sales staff told me to put the plate from my old vehicle on it because the registration paperwork would be completed in a few days. In a span of the next two months I called Labadie approx. 15 times to inquire about my refistration and tirle. I had several conversations with the general manager, the finance manager and title clerk several times. They all had a different excuse each time I spoke with them, mostly blaming me saying I didn't submit the proper paperwork?? Worst car buying experience I have ever had! More
Used car experience This would be 4 1/2 stars if that were possible. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and do 5 stars. First, the not so good. 1) I'm driving 5 This would be 4 1/2 stars if that were possible. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and do 5 stars. First, the not so good. 1) I'm driving 5 hours each way to look at two used Tacoma's and I'm asked to put $50 down to hold one. Deposits are typically used to gauge serious interest by the buyer. Was driving 10 hours round trip the following day, is that not enough serious interest? 2) I can only put money on ONE car to hold for me, not two, even though I'd be there by noon the next day. I understand asking to hold two vehicles for a couple days - but the next morning? Both of these policies need to be changed. 3) Please ... stop doing the "sign this piece of paper to show my manager you're interest in this deal". It's SO cliche, so 1970's dealership xx. Stop it, it cheapens an otherwise good buying an experience. The good: 1) very good, prompt communication with Andrew the salesman before arriving 2) both vehicles were there, as described, and ready for me to test drive. 3) Negotiation for my trade was short, I got a reasonable price for it and made a deal quickly. 4) The dealership gave me the lower price (~$2,000 I found on the internet elsewhere, which made the drive worthwhile. 5) Three hours out the door from the time I arrived. Not bad for a trade, buy, proof of insurance, finance, and all the paperwork. 6) Andrew is a great guy, very courteous, very professional, I'd recommend anyone in the area to ask for him if you're looking at a car at Labadie. If I wasn't five hours away I'd send him additional business when available. 7) Oh yea, I got the $50 to hold the Tacoma refunded promptly and without any games. 8) Several small things like making sure I had the locking lug nut key before I left, removing some stick on mirrors, a last quick detail, both keys. manuals, etc. Last minute checks were helpful, especially when I couldn't return, being five hours away. Toyota dealerships don't have a bad salesman good cop bad cop reputation, but they aren't like shopping at Lexus or Audi either. But all dealerships CAN be. You don't have to sell $50,000 cars to act a certain way. Treat people like adults, with respect, and don't play games. Labadie seems to be working toward that objective, they have a way to go, but they can get there. More
Worst experience I've ever had I CAN NOT believe what I'm going through right now! I traded in a very nice Tahoe to downsize a little and got a used Rav4 from Labadie Oct 1st. I was I CAN NOT believe what I'm going through right now! I traded in a very nice Tahoe to downsize a little and got a used Rav4 from Labadie Oct 1st. I was told they would offer top dollar for my Tahoe because there had been alot of interest in that model vehicle there. I was offered a below standard trade value on the Tahoe but they came down to an agreeable amount on the Rav4. I was happy with the terms and went about my business. Until 3 months later I get a call from my bank that the dealership was attempting to just now turn in the paperwork for the loan. My loan offer was good for 30 days. That time had come and gone, Labadie waited 3 months to fax in the blank check. Literally all they had to do was fax a blank check. They didnt. I was unaware of any issue because I had been auto paying the car note while on a deployment. (I'm active duty military) I call and try to get ahold of someone and I'm told I'll get a call back. I then missed a call from "TJ" the GM who leaves me a voice-mail that says and I quote "This is TJ from Labadie Toyota, I'm the general manager, for some reason I've had to get flagged into this deal. You have two options you can tell (your bank) to fund the contract that you signed and are responsible for or you can cut us a check for $4063.48 for the negative equity in your Chevy Tahoe hybrid and bring the vehicle back. Those are your two options. Call me when you get this" Hmm, surprising tone for a General Manager who didn't "manage" to get a fax off and screwed this entire thing up. Not to mention the fact that my actual negative equity was less then $3,000 do to the agreed price for the Rav4. The huge problem here is that I no longer qualify for the original loan because i've taken over a family members hospital bills and my credit reflects it. I planned to do this to help out and purchased the car before thelse bills would be a factor. My wife and two kids are two hours away from the dealership with no way to drop the car off and I'm on deployment during the holidays and these people won't even come pick up the car. I told them I would run my credit card to settle the difference. Shame on you Labadie Toyota. More

There was an issue with the first buying process several years ago, and I said I wouldn't do business there again. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, they had the kind of car I wanted around my price range, so I gave them a call. The phone rep told me to come with cash or don't bother coming, since he may have to stay later if I was going to buy the car that same day. I don't recall his name unfortunately. Eventually, I did go to the dealership, and had the whole experience turned around by Ryan Brewington, who was very professional and got me the car I wanted at a great deal. If you're going to go to this dealer, based off a few interactions there, I'd recommend you demand to work with Ryan. I think he normally does new sales, but he was great in me buying my used car too. More
