I've been servicing two vehicles at LaFontaine for 8 years now. Every experience has been positive from the greeting after entering the service bay, to the punctual and factual discussion with the Servi years now. Just as with my first vehicle purchase at LaFontaine, this second one was just as great. Maryanne was awesome. I went to the dealership just checking out the Cadillacs.I knew I wanted one but wasn't sure if I could really afford one. When I sat down to talk to Maryanne she was so knowledge checking out the Cadillacs.I knew I wanted one but wasn't sure if I could really afford one. LaFontaine GMC dealership staff turned a few days of bad car shopping into a pleasant and easy transaction. We started our search for a year old low mileage Used GMC Terraine on the internet, finding abou car shopping into a pleasant and easy transaction. We started our search for a year old low mileage Used GMC Terraine on the internet, finding about 17 vehicles which we narrowed to six then down to three. Headed out to the first dealer that was quite a distance from our home having called ahead to be sure the car was still there and said we were on our way to see it. When we got there we waited some time before they even managed to find a sales man who then reluctantly it seemed took us to the car and allowed us to drive it. Did not stay around for any questions. We liked the car and found it acceptable until we went in to discuss price and were met with a take it or leave it whats on the window is what you get and a rather sarcastic manner. So we left it. Drove back across town, stopping at two other dealerships and met with the same sense we were bothering them just sign on the line at the price on the window and get out of here. No discussion no answering of questions or explanations. So we also left dealers two and three. I had applied the first night of our web search to the Costco Auto Purchase program but had received only the name of a dealer who would be contacting us. However as we headed homeward we passed the dealership identified by Costco so we stopped and asked for the person named in that email from Costco. He was located and though the day was very cold and wind blowing very fiercely he had us follow him around their lot while he "looked" for a vehicle. This one will do he said but he had not brought keys so he left us standing on the lot while he went to obtain them. We finally got out of the freezing elements and into a new 2012 Terrain which neither of us was allowed to drive, only riding as passengers as the sales man drove around the block explaining some features. Returning to the showroom he sat us at a desk and disappeared. I finally walked over to a display rack and plucked a Terrain brochure from the shelf so that we might at least read about its features and options. Mr Salesman returned at long last with a printed sheet saying only that was the Costco discount sheet but no effort made to explain it other that you get this car $100 above inventory and the number on the bottom was the price. Does that include taxes and fees we inquired. NO. Can yoou add them in for us please? We did find that the used car price was so very near the price for a new that NEW was by far the better choice and so told him we had out check book in my purse and were ready to write a check that day but we needed a better price and details.Thats the price take it or leave it. The price was pretty high (I had done my homework as to what fair prices were in our area for both the new and used). I asked to take the sheet to go over his figures and consider them against the specs in the brochure. He said I could take the book but NO I could not have the sheet with his pricing on it I was barely able to copy the numbers and not able to write down what each was with any accuracy or detail. So four dealers and four strike outs. Is there more than one Costo plan dealer I mused so I logged on tried a few different zip codes until finally Costco sent an email saying some one from LaFontaine would contact us. ea right just like the first dealer had. However, almost immediately I received an automated reply that someone from their dealership would contact me. It was late evening by then. Next afternoon after pouring over the specs in the brochure we had obtained and the two test drives in the used vehicles to judge by we decided to go back to the last place and see if we could get more information as this was the car we wanted. At that moment in the morning our phone rang and it was Tammy Moen, Pleasant voice bright and Good morning how are you I am calling regarding your referral from Costco and would like to ask some questions to find out what you would like to see so we can best determine how we might help you. Answered her brief to the point questions and asked a few of my own getting instant answers. Hmmm most information we had received in two days so I told Tammy I think we will be out in about an hour. Drove up to LaFontaine's beautiful showroom on Highland road and our first impression was Wow They certainly look to have plenty of inventory to pick from. As we entered the wide double doors we noted a young man leaning against the reception desk who immediately greeted us with "Hi how may I help you" WE explained who we were and had come to see Tammy. Yes I will get her for you I'm Erick Fine and I have been expecting you I don't know what color you may be interested in but I have a Terrain pulled up by the door over here for you to look at and drive after you meet Tammy. He must have had a magic button to summon her because as he ushered us to a desk and chairs asking could he get us any thing to drink, Tammy rounded the corner. Introduced her self and explained she would now leave us in Erick's capable hands as he knew all the details of the cars far better than she but if there were any question later she would be available. I noted car keys lying on Ericks desk as we sat down and he picked them up asking would you like to see the car first so we took a few steps outside and barely a few feet from the door way in a protected shelter area was a gold terrain which we walked around with him explaining features before we could get the questions out. Here's the keys you should drive it. My husband had driven the used cars and neither of us had driven the one new one we saw so I said yes I wanted to drive it and Erick helped me into the car adjusted my seat showed me the controls etc and off we went just my husband and I. . The dealership is located on an excellent double divided highway which gives one the opportunity to get a real feel for its ride pick up etc. Returning to the dealership Erick was there to greet us as soon as we pulled in front. I few more questions out side the vehicle were answered and or demonstrated. Back inside to his desk where he asked a few questions saying he wanted to find any and all discounts we might me allowed other than just the Costco one which he identified for us and he was all ready ahead of the game as his stated discount was much greater that new dealer of the previous day. He quickly identified a red vehicle when asked and also immediately voluntered that was a premium paint and would be x $$ added. With each option we inquire of he would also give us what if any pricing difference that might make so we were quicklky able to determine what we preferred and were also willing to pay that dollar for or not. Making choices and comparisons was a breeze with Mr. Fine. Explaining he would go get a print out for us of both the one we had driven all ready and a red one with options we had asked about and be right back, again asking "Cant I get you something to drink". We again declined but as we sat waiting two other staff approached offering us something so we finally accepted. With in minutes we were both brought hot cups of very good fresh coffee and not stale long standing in a pot on a burner brew. Tasted like fresh from an upscale coffee shop. Erick returned with two spec sheets that were the most complete and specific we have ever seen at a dealer in out sixty year history of buying new cars. We were quite frankly blown away. Clear precise knowledgeable and professional explanations of every set of numbers on the page. Right down to the penny with every transfer fee required by the government, state taxes, discounts that applied for us etc etc etc. Erick actually anticipated our questions. Delightful young man. Professional and friendly and also personal sharing pictures of his nephew and giving history about the dealership and services. WE looked at one another and in the way that couples married" sixty years can communicate the check book came out and the deal was done. The best and most informative with out having to pull information and pricing from the sales man we have experienced. LaFontaines Business Model is by far the best ever seen. Our new red car was ready for us, sitting in the honor spot right in front and the final paper work and signing was handled by the third top notch representative of this company, Michael Walls. We were taken on tour of the beautiful building and customer areas which are undoubtedly top of the line and also introduce to the service staff where to put the cherry on top of he cake were given a gift. We are both actually looking forward to our first service call at La Fontaine in the future. We will certainly be recommending this dealership to family and friends. Didnt see a grumpy face in the entire building and appears to be filled with successful and happy employees with one aim. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION and OPEN AND FAIR PRICING. Guess thats really two. He searched several states to locate the exact vehicle we wanted and did it again when we changed our minds on the color. He went out of his way to make sure our every need was met and gave us a great price. We were particularly impressed when our 4 yr. old grandson was admiring a cast iron model truck on his book shelf and David pulled it down and gave it to him. Not only that he went and found a second truck for him which really made his day. We purchased many vehicles over the last forty years and this dealership and David Schlum were by far the best experience we ever had. More
