Broken/Lemon Used Cars! Terrible Customer Service!! Summary: they sold me a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan which broke down in less than 3 days – not moving, check engine light on, making cranking Service!! Summary: they sold me a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan which broke down in less than 3 days – not moving, check engine light on, making cranking noise. Koons took my car for one week to diagnose. They did not give me loaner car. Refused to give me mechanic diagnoses. Refused to show me pre-sale inspection signed by a mechanic. Neither ethical nor helpful. Buyer be aware unless you are buying new Prius. They deserve zero or negative ratings! Details: I bought my 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan from the dealership on Wednesday (Oct 26th), signed the paperwork and return to pick up the car the next day (Thursday – Oct 27th) and my salesperson, Michael B. was not available. Jeff another salesperson assisted me. Then, the car went down the drain from there. Before I drove the car of the parking lot, I noticed the front left tire was flat. One of the salespersons (whose name I have forgotten) sent the car to the valet (mechanic shop) to add air. I drove the car home and by the next morning, the tire was flat again. I couldn’t get hold of Michael, until Monday (Nov 1st), and he asked me to tow the vehicle to Koons. I did. The service representative Cyntia, called and informed me that the tire has needle inside, and she used (4) DAYS to replace the tire. I picked the car on Thursday (Nov 4th), (3) DAYS later the car broke down, check engine light on, car making noise and not moving. The car broke down on Sunday, the service dept was closed on Sunday. On Monday, I couldn’t get hold of Cyntia or Michael. On Tuesday, I got hold of both Michael and Cyntia and was asked to bring the car. I send the car to Koons on Wednesday (Nov 11th). However, when the driver arrived at Koons, he met Christian who called me to find out who to give the car to. I said, Cyntia and requested to speak with her, but Christian promised to deliver the car to Cyntia and I asked me not to worry. I called Cyntia myself and she didn’t answer, and I left her voice message. She called me 30 minutes later and was blaming me for dropping the vehicle at the new vehicle lot. I told her I wanted to speak to her while the driver was there, but Christian told me not to worry about it and promised to hand the vehicle to her. Then Cyntia said they will diagnose what is wrong with the car the next day. Then, the next day, she called and said they must send it to a specialty mechanic in Tysons Conner to diagnose. She didn’t offer me loaner car neither did I asked because I assumed that would be instantaneous or at worst a day. After several back and forth, I found out on Monday (Nov 15th) that she expected the diagnosis to take a week. Also, she said they didn’t offer loaner car because I didn’t ask for a vehicle while I wait for ONE WEEK. I immediately asked for loaner car, and she said instantly that they have no loaner car available. I wonder how she will have the foresight to know that instantly without checking any inventory or anything? On Nov 16 - she returned my call at 4:50 PM, left me a voice message that she will call me the next day (Nov 17). Today (Nov 17th), I have called her 5 times already and no return call. Nothing. UPDATE: Nov17th - I just got a call from Cyntia saying that my car has a transmission problem. She is demanding that I pay for 50% of the transmission cost ($2,250 of $4,500). I asked her questions about the diagnosis, and she doesn’t know. Yet, she wants my decision on the $2,250 transmission cost ASAP. My experience has been a nightmare at Koons from the salesperson, Finance Director, service team. My experience so far, they are not responsive to your calls or voicemails. E.g., I called Cyntia 5 times on Nov 17th, she did not return my call until I reviewed Koons online. As you shop to buy a car from Koons, think about the following questions: Who goes to the dealership to buy a car with a dead transmission? (Hello Craigslist!) What is value of a ‘pass’ emissions if the transmission is dead? Which mechanic takes one week to diagnose a car problem in year 2021? More
Yesterday Nov.2,2021, I was at the dealership to have my car looked at and the mechanic (Asian) guy was rude and unhelpful. His English and his understanding of the job is poor. Terrible customer service!!!!!!! No help at all, go elsewhere fast. They do not value your time or hard earned money. Told the salesman I wanted to pre-qualify prior to coming in and test drive to not elsewhere fast. They do not value your time or hard earned money. Told the salesman I wanted to pre-qualify prior to coming in and test drive to not waste nobody’s time. I did the paperwork and was told that it has been submitted and approved. Went into the dealership and that was not the case. Spoke to the sales manager and financing and they asked the same questions I already told them from the start. No co-signer and my amount down. It has been three days and no word about my deal from financing or salesman. Terrible, lazy and unprofessional. No wonder Carvana is getting so much business, that’s where I’m going as I’m done with these sorry xxx used car dealerships. Period!!!!! Worst car buying experience ever!!!!! More
