We bought a used 2006 Toyota Matrix from the auction. The car had none of the keys either to start it or to open it. The service department representative explained to me that the key will have to be with the chip for that car and it will come with the new computer that will need to be replaces as well and it will run about $2,000.00..........I was shocked!!!!!!!!! Then I called Beechmont Toyota about 20 miles away from Kings Toyota and about $1,800 cheaper!!!!!!!! I ended up paying $210......Good luck Kings Toyota in RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!!!!!!!!! More

I spoke with Mike Rutherford on the phone to confirm exactly what I was looking for, & to let him know that the King's website showed 5 or more Corollas on his lot that met my specs. Mike prepared a quote, & had it Faxed to me within 2 hours. So far, so good. After I had received quotations from all the dealers I had contacted, I called each one to let them know what the lowest bid was, to see if they'd be interested in meeting or beating it. When I told Mike that the King's bid was more than $1,000 higher than the best quote I had received, he raised his voice to just short of a yell. He ranted, "You're being screwed-around with! That's not a real bid! I've been doin' this for 27 years, and there's no way someone's going to sell you a Toyota for that price! If you can really buy a new Corolla for that much, you should go buy two!" I calmly asked him, "If you're confident that the other dealer is playing games with me, can you give me 2 or 3 questions to ask them, to smoke them out?" Mike replied, "I'm not going to fight your battles for you!". Needless to say, the conversation ended shortly thereafter. So, 2 days later I bought the car from the other dealer, at EXACTLY the price they had quoted me. The entire transaction took about ½ an hour, and was far & away the easiest car buying experience I've ever had. None of the other dealers who had given me quotes offered to match the winning dealer's price. But none of them threw a temper tantrum about it, either. -FC More

After waiting 1 hours and 1/2, I was told that they could not address the recall on my Sienna without first replacing a bent part. Why so long? The recall is addressing a cable corrosion issue for the spare tire. How could anything be bent over the spare tire? Wouldn't the spare tire be first damaged before benting any part above? Very strange. Sounds to me like Kings Toyota was attemting to get extra revenu from me! NEVER will I return to this dealership! More

I bought a 2007 FJ Cruiser about a couple months ago. The car was supposed to be a Toyota Certified Vehicle. By the time I went to see it at the dealership Dave Whalen welcomed me as a very nice person or so I thought. I really liked the car so I tried to see if a deal could be arranged. I took the car home that day with 27 000 miles, expecting the "Multipont inspection" to be done on saturday that week. DAVE WHALEN, (who is also known in the company as "DICK" Whalen, and now I understand why ), told me an my wife that since this inspection is done to certify their cars , anything that needs to be replaced or maintained is done in the process, with no cost, as part of their quality, blah blah blah. So far my experience had been shaky, with free car washes (with a Car wash that is more Out Of Order than anything else ), but nothing to be really upset about, until I took my car to the 30k mile maintenance . Just three thousand miles ( 2 Months ) after I boought my car, the service department told me that the spark plugs needed to be replaced because they were around 30k miles and the air filter was dirty. So at this point I was paying $300 of maintenance, plus the $80 for their filter and $200 for the spark plugs !!!!. The found out because they did a multipoint inspection, the same one that they do in the Toyota Certified Inspection, or let me rephrase, the same one the DID NOT DO. I had the unpleasant surprise to see "Dick" that day, and my wife and I very upset asked him, what the xxxx happened, how is that these things did not get caught in the last inspection and repaired as expected. He says and I quote : " You know, you got a agreat deal with that vehicle, so it's not that much in the big picture, and IF THE COMPANY DID THAT FOR EVERY CAR THEY WOULD BE BANKRUPT, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR." That comment made my blood burst and I made a HUGE effort to control myself, I mean, what's your definition of quality then , or I guess that the intention is to push the car out of the lot before it falls apart, and if it's not sold after a while, fix it so people can do Test Drives?!, I was really upset. If that is how they really handle the quality of the cars they have in their used lot, you better go somewhere else. I regret having bought the car before it was taken into the Toyota Certification Process, because I am SURE he skipped a lot of stuff to save a few bucks. I have met excellent people in Service Department as a recurrent customer here such as Heidi in personalization, and Craig Ditmer in service, who I recommend, but stay far from Whalen , or you will be the next to write in here. He never came back, he never answered any of our questions - he just left. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced. We finally left after 15-20 minutes because we couldn't find him. I will absolutely never return to this dealership again because of this one rude employee. More

After several weeks of research, I contacted the internet sales department of Kings Toyota on 14-July-2009 with a request for a quote on a demo car. Promptly, a response was received from Russ Coyle stating that while the dealership did not currently have any demo vehicles, he could offer a 2009 Highlander at dealer’s invoice of $30,378 less $1,000 customer cash. Upon receipt of this email, I contacted Kings Toyota to express interest in this offer. The representative informed me that the vehicle had not yet been deliver to the dealership and proceeded to state that the Highlander is in high demand and that the vehicle should be delivered soon (the original delivery date was supposed to be 11-July-2009). Since the representative stated that the vehicle was in high demand, I placed a deposit on the Highlander. On 15-July-2009, Kings Toyota called to state that the vehicle was delivered and an appointment was scheduled for us to test drive and complete the transaction. Wanting to take advantage of the customer cash back option, we spend a good part of the day arranging our own financing in order to purchase the vehicle. Upon our arrival at the dealership we inspected and test drove the vehicle with the intentions of making a purchase. When we sat down in the office and were presented with the purchase contract the contract showed a purchase price of $37,628. We were in shock about the difference in price from the original quote. My wife was extremely upset and began to cry from the deception that was exhibited by this dealership. More

I decided to purchase a Toyota certified Toyota Camry, and went in to look at the selection. I purchased a 2002 Camry with 49,000 miles, and was told about it's immaculate, one owner past, and presented and went in to look at the selection. I purchased a 2002 Camry with 49,000 miles, and was told about it's immaculate, one owner past, and presented with a clean carfax, which promptly went into my filing cabinet with the rest of the paperwork. Fast forward a year later, and countless service visits later, I'm going through the paperwork, and notice that the carfax has a different VIN shown than my car. After a little further investigating, I contact the previous owner, a very nice woman, who informs me that the car was previously wrecked, and it sustained about $7,000 in collision damage, which she disclosed to the dealership at trade in. I took it to two body shops, and was shown examples of shady body work. Did I mention that the quarter panel on the car was rusting severely by this point? On a 4 year old Camry with now 60,000 miles? Kings Toyota offered to "buy" the car back for my purchase price, provided I buy another car from them. I ended up selling the car on ebay, and after disclosing all the problems to potential buyers, I got salvage value for the car. Avoid this dealership at all costs. I recommend Beechmont Toyota. That's where I purchased my current car, this one a new, 2007 Toyota Camry. More
