It was comforting knowing that Ryan and his team at Laurel KIA had my best interest at heart, from car model to price range, who acknowledged my personal status without trying to persuade me to give or do more. Both my grandmother and I purchased our cars within a day of each other at Laurel KIA and we both agreed that we left with the satisfaction of knowing that we got a GREAT deal! We remain very much incontact with them and if we could get a second car we would without hesitation from Laurel KIA If you’re looking for AMAZING service and GREAT deals/incentives get your car at Laurel KIA! Kudos to the Man with the Red bow tie I don't often write reviews but our experience at Laurel Kia this past Saturday had been unlike any car shopping experience we've ever had. The entire I don't often write reviews but our experience at Laurel Kia this past Saturday had been unlike any car shopping experience we've ever had. The entire interaction from the first greeting to signing the last contract agreement, was an overall great flow that I wanted to share our experience. The man with the red bow tie, Jamal, greeted us immediately as we walked through the door. We didn't know what we were looking for exactly but we did know we had a monthly price budget. We have always bought brand new vehicles but since we had a budget in our monthly, we opted to look into the pre-owned vehicles. Jamal was friendly, knowledgeable of the different vehicles in the lot, Kia products and very helpful. After talking to Jamal about what we are looking for and what type of car we want, he knew just what to show us. Based on our preferences, he asked if we would be interested in possibly looking into a brand new Kia Optima. Jamal explained the differences between the Pre Owned and New cars... and after we test drove the car, we were sold! My husband and I immediately fell in love with it. Monthly cost was still a factor and somehow Jamal made it happen... not exactly what we originally planned but close enough to our monthly budget. We appreciate Jamal's honestly and professionalism. We would definitely highly recommend Laurel Kia and suggest looking for Jamal, the Man with the red bow tie. Thank you Jamal for your help and patience with us. We are very happy with our purchase of 2015 Kia Optima! More
Faith-Based Automotive Safety I have interacted with the service group at this dealership regarding three separate events. When it comes to having them do an oil change, there wer I have interacted with the service group at this dealership regarding three separate events. When it comes to having them do an oil change, there were no problems. I was not exactly met with a smiling face, but then, hey - it's just an oil change. Who get's excited about that? The other two events, however, were much more unsettling. The first, and less important, was when I tried to figure out whether the batteries on my Optima Hybrid were functioning correctly. I explained that when I would pull into my driveway, the engine would not be running (i.e. the batteries clearly had charge), and that if I then went back into the car a little later, the car would still ride on battery power (i.e. seemed to be doing just fine). But... if I went out the next morning and started the car - not putting it in gear or even having the AC/heat on - the engine would immediately kick in to heat up the engine. Sounds strange to me. So here is the problem: I called the dealership - the experts - to ask them why this might be happening. They said "I don't know". Really? You don't know? "Okay," said I, "could you find out?" "Sure," they said. But they didn't. Never got back to me. When I called again, I was starting from scratch. Called the sales folks too. Nothing. Just "Hmm, I don't know" followed by a dubious "let me check into it and get back to you". They, of course, never did. Eventually I took it to my local mechanic, since the dealership obviously had no intention of doing anything. I told him about the problem, and without missing a beat the guy said "Oh, in the winter? Yeah, hybrids do that because they need to warm up the batteries to ensure they function optimally." Kind of makes you wonder - if a general mechanic could answer the question off the top of his head, why were the dealer's "experts" unable to figure this out? But here is the real problem with this dealership - my brakes. I took my car in to have them diagnose an unusual squeaking noise in the brakes. They couldn't. They gave me the car back saying, "we lubricated the mechanism. That should alleviate the squeak." My response: But why was it squeaking? How do you know that it is a lubrication issue? And if it is, what about the deeper question: why would a car that is less than a year old need to have its brake mechanism lubricated? I have never heard of this as typical maintenance. If it is a lack of lubrication, won't the problem just come back if we don't address the root cause? Their response: We lubricated the mechanism. That should take care of it. So yes, they sent me back on the road in a car having brakes that were not acting as expected, and for which they had no idea what the problem was. The next day I decided I was not prepared to accept this solution, and took it back. They looked at it for about 30 minutes, came back and said "We don't know what the squeak is, but they are safe." Now wait a minute. If you don't know what the cause of the squeak is, how can you tell me that the brakes are safe? Their answer: "I don't know". So I pushed harder. Now they make some calls, and tell me that the district manager thinks he might know what the problem is. They are going to get more information and get back to me. I get a call the next day and am told: "The district manager says that Kia knows about the problem, but does not yet have a solution for it." Okay, So I ask, "what is the problem?" What is their answer? You guessed it: "I don't know" When will you be able to repair the car? "I don't know." At this point, I call the general manager of the dealership. Alex. Nice guy. Returns most of my emails very promptly. Assures me that he is working on it. His plan is to set up a meeting between me and the district service manager. However, it has now almost a later month, and amazingly, no meeting. No meeting, no status updates, no solutions. Nearly a month to set up a meeting? Are you kidding me? Hmmm, let me see. Which option seems more likely: a) really cannot arrange a discussion between two people to provide an explanation for how I can be sure my car is safe to drive, or b) realizes that he can just stall me for another month, I will no longer be able to return the car per the Lemon Law? Now that's a puzzler... So what is the verdict? If you are into faith-based automotive services, you might find this dealership/service department acceptable. However, if you prefer to base the safety of your driving experience on things like engineering, this is definitely not the place for you. More

Everyone there was extremely helpful, beginning with Pierce York, and another unknown salesperson who got us a dealer tag and on the test drive while we were waiting on Pierce. He was waiting on another prospective customer and we just showed up without an appointment. We were content to wait, but another salesperson pitched in and helped us as did the Sales Manager on duty (Alex). I know these guys work on commissions, but the other salesperson and Alex gave us a real feeling of teamwork and caring about the customers experience at their dealership. Finally, even the Finance and Insurance person (Lisa) was equally professional and helpful. The really amazing thing was the patience that Pierce demonstrated when we didn't have a clue of what we were going to buy. Originally, we went there to get a new car. Judy's previous car had just caught fire while she was driving it and prior to that, we had no intentions of buying a new car. After decades of driving Caprices, an Oldsmobile 88, and an Mercury Grand Marquis, Judy was faced with a really tough decision. Needless to say, no one builds cars like those anymore (Thank God). The bottom line is Pierce helped her by having her explain what she didn't like about the new style vehicles and after a bit of trial and error, we determined that a new SUV was a better fit for Judy rather than any of the cars. We love our new Sportage and couldn't be happier with the entire car buying experience. We highly recommend anyone even considering a new vehicle, to call Pierce York before buying any where else!! They clearly explained the price (which was right in line with several car value sites) and kept the "surprise" settlement add-ons to a minimum. We only had two very minor criticisms. First, when we went to pick up the car our salesmen (Michael, Alex) were not there. Hey, nobody can be at work all the time. But nobody seemed to be expecting us and there wasn't anyone prepared to conclude the transaction. Fortunately, Jamal stepped in and provided the necessary final papers. Finally, we were a bit disappointed that our new car only had 1/4 tank of gas. I know gas is expensive but a new car should be delivered with a full tank. More
Amazing Car Buying Experience I don't write reviews that often, but I really had such a good experience at Laurel Kia I felt the need to write one. I went in on a Saturday morning I don't write reviews that often, but I really had such a good experience at Laurel Kia I felt the need to write one. I went in on a Saturday morning and told Ryan exactly what I wanted. I made an appointment ahead of time. When I arrived in the morning, the car that I wanted to test drive was already pulled up for me. Ryan and Steve were great to work with. Ryan was my sales consultant and Steve is the manager. They were both extremely patient, nice and never too pushy. I was completely honest and told them I was going to test drive a Mazda first before making a decision. Ryan was completely understanding and never put down the Mazda, which I really respected. Jamal and Mike weren't my salesman, but they both talked with me also, not even about buying a car -- just being nice people. I am military and they made sure to really try and work with me. I'm also from California, but they made sure all of my tags/registration were taken care of. The whole experience was great. I really recommend this dealership for anyone looking for a car. It's not a huge, overwhelming dealership with too many salespeople walking around everywhere. I can't speak on the entire staff, but for the ones who I did encounter: They are extremely nice people who aren't too pushy and really just try to take care of their customers. Thanks guys. :) More
