I know as much about cars as I do about surgery - so I have to rely on a dealership’s integrity. I find theirs to be consistently high. My only conundrum was recently being advised to replace my battery which (though only 1 year old) was deemed to have failed Kia’s tests. I agreed to have KIA change the battery and I eventually brought the old battery back to Autozone. They tested it and said it was at 71% capacity and “good”. I guess I should have asked more questions - like what constitutes “fail”. Or what constitutes “good”. I also failed to advise KIA that I hadn’t driven the car in a month and that might have influenced its charge. As it is, KIA was quite helpful - Lucy left the battery under her desk until a friend could pick it up and I could return it to Autozone. Lucy graciously put it in my friend’s trunk. Autozone gave me a full refund so I’m whole. I guess in the end I was treated nicely by Kia AND Autozone. More
The dealership was very generous to transport me back to my house while the work was being completed. I would have liked more correspondence and status reports, but they are doing as well as they can wit my house while the work was being completed. I would have liked more correspondence and status reports, but they are doing as well as they can with being understaffed and a maintenance department that is clearly to small for the volume of cars that the dealership sells. The purchase of our vehicle went accordingly, but follow-up maintenance on our vehicle has been one mess after another. They have lost paperwork, left trash in our vehicle and recently crimped the gasket to the oil pan plug which caused the oil to leak leaving us approximately 2 miles from permanent damage to the engine. After taking the vehicle back to be reinspected they left oily finger prints on the inside of the windshield and when they ran the vehicle through their wash rack they never completely closed the moon roof allowing water to get inide the vehicle. I took my car to Kia of Lincolnwood because it occasionally would not start. They did nothing for about a week (April 24-29), not even return my numerous calls. When they did, they claimed that m occasionally would not start. They did nothing for about a week (April 24-29), not even return my numerous calls. When they did, they claimed that my injector was bad and that it would cost me over $3k. I insisted that the injector wasn't bad and on the next visit they apologized that the tech didn't plug back the plugs appropriately. I took my car away even when the other sales lady tried playing the age old good cop but with clear intention to rip me off. The next shop diagnosed my Soul to need a new oxygen sensor (under $100). This is my 3rd poor experience with this dealership and certainly my last More
