Two years ago, I bought a 2021 KIA Sportage from Huntington KIA (my 2nd Sportage). At first, I almost walked out never to return. The Salesman was more interested in something going on behind me t Huntington KIA (my 2nd Sportage). At first, I almost walked out never to return. The Salesman was more interested in something going on behind me then me. He gave me someone else's business card scratched out with his name inked in. I waited a bit and gave it another go and did indeed purchase a Sportage. A couple of weeks ago I was in the market for a 2nd car, used more likely. In conversation with Gloria, we floated the idea to check out the 2024 Sportage which was not in stock to test drive. Why a deposit was required I cannot say but OK I gave her my credit card and she charged it $500+tax . (In hindsight why so much and just why?) Time passed, my needs changed and before I could call her to tell her to return my deposit, she called me. I explained that I was going in a different direction for the time being and to credit my card the deposit. My phone blew up with calls from a Tyler asking what could be done to make a sale. I just explained just not now. In fact, I wanted to pay off my current loan and trade it in for a new car. Well, this is where things started the path south...I received an email with a Refund Request Authorization form to be completed and retuned. What? Why? No. I called left a message for her and for Tyler. Neither returned my call. Instead, someone (if he gave his name, I did not catch it) called and, yes, it's true I was adamant that I never had to complete a form to have a deposit returned and I didn't even think it was a thing. To me it was a delay tactic. He said they don't keep credit card information on file so I would have to provide him with my card info. I did. Before I could say thank you, he most definitely hung up. So ok here are a week out and no return of deposit. What choice did I have but to contact AMEX and put the charge in dispute. Why do this? Why take a routine transaction (I can't have been the first) and create a situation that is less than positive. To what end? Now you have an unhappy customer who 1. taking the time to write a negative review, 2. putting the charge in dispute, 3. advising folks NOT to leave a deposit. and 4. Will be hard pressed to buy a car from KIA Huntington. Worst thing ever? No. Just plain bad business. More
Where to start? The 7 hours it took to get finished? The fact that 2 men who came after me were somehow finished before me? That a third man was about to be finished The 7 hours it took to get finished? The fact that 2 men who came after me were somehow finished before me? That a third man was about to be finished before me til I finally had to say something? All this and more made it a horrible car buying experience. They justified the long wait on having only 1 finance person working, but that doesn’t explain who others who came after me were worked with before me. The “compensation”? One extra oil change, which they didn’t even put in writing so who knows if they’ll even honor that. (Along with the “VIP” package that includes other things like car washes every month and discounts on parts; yet they give you no info on where to go for the car wash or anything else in writing for that matter). Now let’s talk about the initial phase. Checked online if the car I liked was available. It was, until I got there. Then it was “in the process” with someone else. Ok, moved on to other cars. Asked about any kind of deal, and had a bunch of eye rolls and “best we can do” and generally not working with me at all. Wonder if I was a guy would that have been different? My vibes there said it 100% would be. So, maybe a hour or so for me to pick a car, get paperwork started & then HOURS of sitting around waiting. Just miserable. I also opted for the special “wrap around coverage” that I was told covers the car for more (electronics, parts that aren’t normal wear and tear, etc). I was told that I could take the car anywhere and the coverage would be there. Shocking to say (sarcasm) that after reading everything more thoroughly (my fault for trusting what was said) the car has to be brought to dealership unless you’re like 40+ miles away from them when you need the work. If closer you have to call and ASK IF they’ll COVER IT if you go elsewhere. Gee, wonder what the answer will be? Fast forward about 10 days. I get a msg that they now found a 2nd key, they didn’t know how they missed it, blah, blah. I called back and said I was out of town but please put it in the mail if that’s possible. One week later and NO return call and NO key. My advice, go to a different Kia dealer. More
I want to preface this by saying that I have been getting my Kia repaired here for the last two years. I will no longer be stepping foot in this dealership after my experience leasing a new vehicle. We en my Kia repaired here for the last two years. I will no longer be stepping foot in this dealership after my experience leasing a new vehicle. We entered the premises and spoke to the sales rep. We quickly decided on a vehicle we wanted, and the rep informed us we would have to wait for the assistant manager. She gave us a range of possible interest rates based on our credit score and asked us to wait. We ended up waiting for two hours. This was only to START the process and figure out what our actual interest rate would be. Low and behold, the interest rate was much higher than we were told, and we ended up proceeding to lease a similar vehicle. The entire process took so long that we were beginning to wonder whether they actually wanted us to buy a car from them. If we weren't already set on buying a Kia, we would have walked out much earlier. This isn't even the worst part. After a few weeks, I received an email from my insurance company stating that the NY DMV had no record of my vehicle being registered. I immediately called the dealership, and they told me that they couldn't provide me with any information and sent me to the voicemails of the sales reps I dealt with. I asked them to call me back the next day. They never called back. The DMV never received anything from them. Fast forward two more weeks, and we called the dealership again. This is when they informed us that FedEx LOST a shipment of registrations (???), and they had to send them again. This is honestly unbelievable, and I've never heard of FedEx losing AN ENTIRE SHIPMENT OF HIGHLY SENSITIVE GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS. When we reminded them that our temporary registration would expire soon, they said to bring any tickets to the Kia dealership and they would pay them. I assume they will show up to traffic court and pay for my attorney as well. This dealership is a joke, and they screwed up the most important part of the vehicle leasing process. They lost and/or just never sent our DMV documents and are now nonchalantly claiming that they will pay everyone's traffic ticket whose documents were tragically lost in the great FedEx mishap. These people are extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I will never step foot in this dealership again. More
