I am writing to bring attention to a serious issue regarding my 2020 Kia Sorento, which I purchased brand new from Kia of Dartmouth in December 2019. Like many others, I have experienced severe engine regarding my 2020 Kia Sorento, which I purchased brand new from Kia of Dartmouth in December 2019. Like many others, I have experienced severe engine problems commonly associated with this model, including excessive oil consumption and engine failure—issues that have resulted in recalls and several settled and ongoing class action lawsuits. Unfortunately, my VIN number was not included in those recalls, and I was therefore not included in the lawsuit. Nonetheless, I am experiencing significant engine issues. Despite my vehicle being covered under Kia's 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty (with fewer than 70,000 miles on the odometer), Kia is refusing to replace the engine due to a lack of documentation for five years of oil changes. While this may be a written requirement, it was never clearly communicated at the time of purchase. I find this policy unreasonable given the known defects with these engines. It is highly unethical—and should be illegal—to sell a vehicle with recognized engine issues. I have completed the oil consumption test with Kia of Dartmouth. They will not move forward with the chamber cleaning, as they cannot verify my service documentation, and have since dismissed me as a customer after I began bringing awareness of this issue to the public. I am now stuck in limbo with a car that cannot be driven more than 1,000 miles without adding oil. I had a 6,000-mile road trip planned for this summer, which I can no longer safely take my family on. Regardless of where my car was serviced, this is a known and recognized manufacturer defect. All Kia Sorentos should have been recalled, or at minimum, all should be covered under warranty as this is clearly a manufacturer defect and in no part user error, regardless of service records. My vehicle now loses a significant amount of oil in under 1,000 miles and is unsafe to drive. Kia has refused not only to cover the additional tests needed to confirm the required engine replacement, but also to provide a rental vehicle—leaving me and my family in a dangerous and unfair situation. As a veteran and a parent to a legally blind daughter, the lack of a reliable and safe vehicle is a serious concern. This is not an isolated incident. There are literally tens of thousands of Kia owners who, like myself, have experienced various engine issues and have been denied diagnostic tests and repairs. Kia seems to feel this practice is normal and acceptable. Why should we as consumers be forced to accept unethical and substandard service? A product was sold and marketed as a reliable and safe car, yet Kia themselves know this to be false. There is substantial evidence supporting the faulty, defective engines Kia uses in their vehicles. Why is this being allowed to continue? Why are we being told this is acceptable? Kia has gone above and beyond to avoid responsibility and instead places all blame on the consumer. Thousands of owners—even those with complete service documentation—have been denied repairs. I myself have been dismissed from my dealership, and my emails and phone calls to corporate have gone unanswered. I urge Kia to do the right thing and stand behind their product. I urge Kia to uphold their 10-year/100,000-mile warranty unconditionally. I have reported the safety concern to the NHTSA for investigation and recall of all Kia Sorentos. I have already submitted a claim with the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. I have contacted several news channel investigation teams and posted a testimonial video on social media. The video is gaining popularity, and many people have commented, sharing the exact same story. I will continue to bring visibility to this issue until Kia rectifies this for not only myself, but for the thousands of others who are also victims. Thank you for helping spread my story. Tiffany made this process so smooth! When I couldn’t pick up the car the same day, she even drove all the way to pick me up to the dealership. 5 star all around. When I couldn’t pick up the car the same day, she even drove all the way to pick me up to the dealership. 5 star all around. More
The manual says thank you for selecting your new Kia vehicle. That they are a global car manufacturer focused on building high-quality vehicles with exceptional value, and Kia is dedicated to providing vehicle. That they are a global car manufacturer focused on building high-quality vehicles with exceptional value, and Kia is dedicated to providing a customer service experience that exceeds expectations. This Kia dealership does not stand behind the customer service experience at all. Had a warranty issue and they state that it was three times already and they couldn't duplicate the issue well they only had one person who couldn't hear well therefore couldn't duplicate the issue. I have a hatchback issue making noise and if you research the Kia forums it states the same exact issue and provides a solution of using tape, the tape is temporary and I was asking Kia for a permanent solution and they told me to go to a different dealership. They state that it's not the same Kia model but it is the same Kia model it's a Kia Seltos it's just a different year whatever happened in 2021 is reoccurring in 2024. Do not recommend this dealer and they don't stand behind that either which is listed in the warranty manual "statement", which sates they strongly stand behind every vehicle and that they're committed to making sure that you enjoy your Kia for years to come.
