Buying my new car at SanTan Volkswagen was actually an enjoyable experience. I worked with Hal for a number of weeks looking for the exact car I wanted. He communicated with me throughout this time period; enough to keep me informed, but not so much as to be annoying. He listened to me and never pressured me. Overall the dealership seems to care about their customers and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely recommend both Hal and SanTan Volkswagen to anyone in the market for a new car. More

I have no real complaints. Everything was just fine. No pressure or anything from the sales staff. They worked witn me and I din't feel like I was obligated to buy anything. Greg was friendly and honest from the minute we met him. He included our daughter, who the car was for, into the conversation/experience. We hadn't planned on buying a car that Sunday and he and the manager agreed to hold the price and detail the car on Monday. The price was great and we figured we couldn't pass it up. Because my husband and I work opposite shifts, we had to sign paperwork on different days and EVERYONE especially Greg helped make this happen! Before we left the dealership Monday night, Greg had explained all the features and showed our daughter how they worked. He also told her to call if she had any question, he really made this an exciting experience for our college bound daughter. I would recommend Greg and San Tan VW to anyone! More
We had the most pleasant new car buying experience we ever had. We thought our trade-in was worth more than it was and that we wouldn't be able to afford the 2011 Jetta TDI we wanted, but Patrick asked ever had. We thought our trade-in was worth more than it was and that we wouldn't be able to afford the 2011 Jetta TDI we wanted, but Patrick asked us to come on in and he would make the numbers work. So we did stop by and he was a man of his word. He gave a deal on our trade in and he gave us a great price on the Jetta - We highly recommend Patrick and SAN TAN VW to anyone looking for an honest salesperson and dealership. We also want to thank Mark Stull from San Tan VW finance department who was very friendly and easy to talk to. More
My wife and I had an awful experience at Camelback Volkswagen in Phoenix. I called SanTan and explained over the phone our horrible Camelback VW experience. I went on to explain what we wanted, the price we were looking for, and an explanation of the options and costs of the warranty. I further explained that my wife was 6 months pregnant, and we did not have the time nor energy to make a deal other than what was said over the phone. We drove an hour to get to SanTan VW (Camelback VW is only 10 minutes away from our house), and it was well worth it. The exact car we were looking for (Jetta Sportwagen), and exact terms of what was discussed over he phone were still in effect. Where as our Camelback experience felt like everybody from sales to finance teamed up against us to force us into signing; Everybody at SanTan seemed to work and support each other to help us get what we wanted. Instead of someone selling us a car, I felt like we bought one. I highly recommend SanTan Volkswagen for anybody looking to purchase a car. From sale through financing, I felt like all the car features, options, warranty and finance terms were properly explained to us so that we had a thorough understanding of what we were buying, and what to expect throughout the lifetime of our car. From my initial phone call to the drive home, the customer service reinforced my decision to buy a VW, and especially to buy from SanTan VW. Thank you SanTan! Luis More
All dealerships are typical at the end of the day. That is just what they do as it is business right? Well Jack Rasmussen's first impression stayed consistant throughout the entire experience. He is a no nonsense people pleasing salesman which is odd because most salesmen are usually assholes just trying to get at your wallet. Jack has his own style mixed in with what the bean counters expect but his own style is what won us over. We will go to San Tan VW again for sure. We also experienced great service on that same day that we bought our new VW. Yeah, we went there for service on our 2010 VW Tiguan and traded up for a 2011 model after we were approached by Jack asking if there was anything that he could help us out with. We did go there thinking that we may trade in the 2010 for a 2011 as the leather seats in the 2010 were killing the wife in this heat. Moral of the story is keep Jack there at San Tan and maybe even let him show the other sales guys his tactics as he is dead on. If Jack is not promoted to something other than Internet Sales then you guys are missing the boat on a great long term employee. No matter when we go to San Tan VW again we will always ask and deal with Jack Rasmussen. Otherwise we may need to reconsider ; ) More
Last weekend, we walked into San Tan VW to explore purchasing a new vehicle. Salesman Hal "Your Pal Hal" Feldman was cordial, knowledgable, and friendly. When we came in, we were not committed to a s purchasing a new vehicle. Salesman Hal "Your Pal Hal" Feldman was cordial, knowledgable, and friendly. When we came in, we were not committed to a specific model or even make. Hal helped us compare options with our goals and helped to to test and compare models and features. We decided on a Jetta GTI. It's got great style, power, convenience and economical performance. We also liked the service and care plan. Doing some research on financing by non-dealer sources helped us help the dealer to find us a very competitive rate. We would recommend the vehicle, the dealer and the saleman again to anyone. More
I walked into the dealership and asked to speak with a salesperson. One minute later I was greeted by Pat. We sat down and went over what I was looking for. First he introduced me to the Jetta TDI. He spend around 20 minutes explaining the ins and outs of the car. Went for a test run and I was sold on VW. The second car we looked at was a 2DR Golf TDI. I was a bigger fan of the golf but there were no 4dr's on the lot. I called the next day and told them I wanted a 4DR Golf TDI or nothing. They were able to find the car I was looking for and I went in and signed the papers that day. The next day Pat drove all the way down to Tucson to get my car and drive it all the way up. I walked in on an Tuesday and 2 days later I walked out with my dream car. I love the car and it was a pleasure working with everyone at the dealership. More
To make a long story short I will not recommend this dealership to anyone. My family and I went in there with the intention of purchasing a vehicle and dealt with several people. At first things were fine, but that is where the good part of this story ends. After being told different stories such as it taking up to five months for a certain color to arrive and telling us the model we wanted in the trim level we wanted only had a sunroof for $60.00 more a month we began to suspect something was up. I should have walked out right there, but because the salesman began complaining that he had put in so many hours into the deal and if we walked out we would never be welcome again, we felt bad so we did the deal. I traded in a vehicle and was quoted a SPECIFIC price for the car and all it's add ons but we will return to that problem later. Upon entering the finance office we told the finance guy we did not want ANY ADD ONS. Welp sure enough he began using pushy sales tactics, scare tactics, and everything else in the book to get us to buy service plans. We must have said no about 15 times. It got to the point where he told us Volkswagen will not honor its main warranty without an extended service plan. We called Volkswagen Group and of course this information is 100% false. After all this time wasted we got the car and low and behold there were trim packages missing and the dealership pulled a bait and switch on us and sold the car we wanted while we were processing the deal. They told us this was the car we wanted. We were so tired at this point we just took it. We ended up after about 15 days calling the dealership and telling them how dissatisfied we were with the deal. We spoke with the owners son and general manager john Ellegard who if you want the honest opinion his reputation fallows him. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. We offered to return the car and pay for the miles but of course John had only two words for us... Back to the original mention of the trade in plus all the add ons. Well we were supposed to receive a large check back for the extended warranty on the trade in. Of course the finance "professionals" told us we were getting a large sum back, but when the check came there was a GIGANTIC GAP in the dollar amounts quoted and the dollar amounts received. We called up John who basically told us "tough !@#$ pay up or see you in court" that is exactly what he said by the way. We are now sitting in a car that is so upside down it is beyond recognition. We ended up getting stuck with even more negative equity on the car and the payments sky rocketed. Now only 29 days into the lease we had to get out. San Tan volkswagen refused to do anything to help us the only thing John Ellegard cares about is his paycheck and not the customer. We ended up getting very lucky and found a dealer who was able to help us out of this nightmarish deal and put my family and I into a beautiful new car on a much lower payment and on a purchase instead of a lease. Even to this day John Ellegard and San Tan Volkswagen harass me, my family, and continue to threaten to take me to court and garnish my wages over not paying him the difference in price between the extended warranty amount and the down payment amount. The staff at San Tan Volkswagen have even gone as far as to go into the Volkswagen financial system and gather information on my new purchase from the other dealer and use the information against me. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT USING THIS DEALERSHIP. Between the lies, scams, bait and switch tactics, sales pressure, scare tactics and many more.. this dealership deserves no business until they can learn proper business ethics. John Ellegard is too busy threatening lawsuits on elderly men and a college student with severe anxiety issues to be practicing proper business ethics. Hopefully the owner of San Tan Volkswagen will see this and clean his dealership up. Until than this dealership receives an F. Should San Tan Volkwagen ever rectify the situation and do the right thing and stop harassing me and threatening to take me to court, I will edit this review to reflect this change.
