Worst Vehicle Buying Experience of My Life I visited Ganley Nissan in Mayfield Heights to look into purchasing or leasing a new vehicle. My salesman was Ricardo. Ricardo, a relatively new sa I visited Ganley Nissan in Mayfield Heights to look into purchasing or leasing a new vehicle. My salesman was Ricardo. Ricardo, a relatively new salesman, was friendly and professional, but did not come across as very knowledgable about the vehicles. However, the negative experience I had was not due to Ricardo. I understand, that everyone is new at their job at some point and if I had a question for which he didn't know the answer, he got the answer for me. When I met with Ricardo, I explained to him that once I decided on a vehicle, I wanted to get his best price and then I planned on visiting another Nissan dealership to compare pricing. I told him if his price was not equal to or better than the other dealership, that I would not be back. Once I decided on the Rogue SL, Ricardo turned me over to Orlando (I'm guessing he's the finance guy). I told Orlando that I expected him to give me his best price. He said he would not give me his best price unless I gave him a verbal commitment. I guess this is supposed to make me think that I am contractually obligated to now purchase the vehicle from him, no matter what price he gives me. I wonder if that works on anyone? I said, "Okay, I'll play your game, I'm committed." He said that it wasn't a game, it's just how he does it. So he worked up the numbers and printed it out. He said this was his best price. He initially offered me $10,500 for my trade in. We eventually settled on $13000 for my trade in. I told Orlando that I would take the numbers home and review and research it. After asking twice, Orlando eventually emailed me a copy of the numbers. Orlando asked for a $500 deposit, so I gave them my credit card for that. When I reviewed the numbers at home, they didn't add up. He took $500 off of the sticker price, added in my trade and $2000 in incentives, but when I added up the numbers, the bottom line was $500 over what it should have been. My opinion is that this was an intentional trick and it's also my opinion that this is why Orlando seemed reluctant to give me a copy of the numbers. Due to this and additional research I did, regarding the price of the vehicle, I decided to visit Nissan of Bedford two days later. As I did with Ganley Nissan, I was up front with the salesman at Bedford Nissan. It was a very quick process. Within 45 minutes, we had a deal - $1200 more for my trade in and over $2000 lower on the purchase price, in addition to the same incentives. I texted Ricardo and told him that I got a better deal at another dealership and would not be continuing the process with Ganley Nissan. He texted back that he wished that I would have given him the opportunity to match or beat the price. I was surprised at that response, since I told him, from the beginning, that if I got a better price at another dealership, that I would not be back. I then texted Ricardo again and I said please have Orlando credit my credit card for the $500 deposit. Within a few minutes, I got a phone call from Orlando. Orlando said that they would not be giving me my deposit back! I told him that he had to and that he had no legal justification to keep my deposit. He gave me some "salesman talk" that they had already taken the vehicle out of their inventory and blah, blah, blah..... When I dealt with Orlando during the price negotiation, my assessment was he felt that he, with all of his "fancy" blah, blah, blah, was outsmarting someone, so even though it did surprise me that HE thought that they were going to keep my deposit, his blah, blah, blah explanation didn't surprise me. I'm 53 years old and have purchased many vehicles in my life and dealt with quite a few dealerships. Because of the way I was treated by Orlando, this was the worst car buying experience I have had. Not only will I be posting this review on many websites, I will be sure to tell the story to many people. To the management and ownership of Ganley - Is this the practices you condone at your dealerships? I know I will get my deposit back, so what's the point? More

I had gone back and forth with someone via email from the dealership before hand and explained that I already had financing in place. When I arrived, they were friendly. We drove the car I wanted to purchase, they drove my trade-in and all was well. They tried a couple times to convince me to let them run my credit to see if they could get me a lower rate. I declined and told them I already had my financing set up. They seemed to get a little upset over this. After sitting for about 30 minutes waiting for my sales rep to come back, I was approached by the General sales manager, Orlando, who told me that he couldn’t sell me the car I had been looking at because they don’t accept outside lenders checks, particularly checks from Credit Unions. He said the only way he would sell me the car was if I were to finance it through one of the dealers lenders and then I could refinance it though my own lender later on down the line. I told him that was not going to happen and I left the dealership. These guys are swindlers if you ask me. It was like my money wasn’t green and all they cared about was the money they would make on the back end had I financed it with their lenders. I would avoid them at all cost if you plan to have your own financing. More

My first car from them was purchased at their initial offer price in 2010 - AFTER I told them I'd think over their 'great deal', went home, started verifying all of the prices online, and realized that Consumer Reports suggested a price $600 OVER what the dealership had offered. I finally traded in that Altima this year on a certified used Rogue. I'm very pleased with the service I received from Brent Johnson in Sales & very happy with the deal I was able to negotiate on the car, the trade and on an extended warranty. More

Gave me everything I asked for! The biggest shout out however goes to used car manager Trent Stambaugh for stepping in when others were obviously busy and making sure that everything got completed so that I could drive my new car off the lot. This was not his job but his attitude was indicative of everybody else that I met here, which was to make this a customer first experience for me. I would do it all again! More

Couple weeks later I called back to set up a follow up appointment and spoke with Aaron regarding the deal and he assured me he can do better than his original offer and he’ll write me a check. We set up a meeting for a couple of days later. The day of the appointment, Aaron and Kevin played the typical used car sales man game. After 20 minutes of waiting past our scheduled appointment, and by the way no one was in Aaron’s office (the dealership was nearly empty) he comes out with with a grin and says he found my vehicle online in similar condition and mileage much cheaper so now his offer is $5k. I asked him to show me where he found these vehicles, He claimed he had him up on his computer. We stepped into his office and he was Immediately caught in a lie, he didn’t have the cars he claimed to have found online. Shocks. Instead he pulled up a generic car value estimate and started entering basic generalized vehicle information for auction values. He had no cars to show to justify the sudden withdrawal on the offer, obvious form of bait and switch. From there it was the typical lip service about how he talked to his VP, etc. Do not recommend doing business with them. They don’t stand by their offers. Hopefully this review helps others and serves as a warning to how Aaron (used car manager) does business at Ganley Nissan in mayfield heights. Don’t get manipulated and fall for this classic example of bait and switch. More

Caution Deceptive Trade Practices Shortly after purchasing a used 2014 altima from another dealer, the car began to have ignition problems (not Ganley’s fault, although the car was ori Shortly after purchasing a used 2014 altima from another dealer, the car began to have ignition problems (not Ganley’s fault, although the car was originally from that location). However, after bringing the vehicle into Ganley Nissan Mayfield to diagnose, I was told by Service Manager Leo Beer, Jr. and his mechanic, that it was caused by “bad gas” and my manufacturer’s warranty was now void. On the receipt the mechanic indicated he “removed and wiped the spark plugs.” After following all their recommendations, as I relied on their diagnosis, my car failed to start again while I was out of town. My only option was to due a spark plug change on the fly. While removing my plugs I noticed they were COVERED in oil. This was only a few days after the “bad gas” diagnosis. There is NO WAY a trained mechanic could EVER mistake oil on the spark plugs for “bad gas.” Outraged, I returned to Ganley Nissan Mayfield and confronted Mr. Beer with the oil covered spark plugs AND his mechanic’s statement that he had wiped the plugs. Mr. Beer took the oil covered plugs from me, smelled them, and said, “smells like bad gas to me.” I have never been so offended. I then immediately brought my car to Bedford Nissan for a diagnosis. They diagnosed a cracked block and warranty replaced the entire engine. Bedford Nissan was equally outraged and provided great service and I highly recommend them. Later, I returned to Ganley Nissan Mayfield and requested from Mr. Beer a refund for my “misdiagnosis.” He refused to refund my money following a personal visit AND an email. Eventually, I contacted the Attorney General and was promptly refunded my money. More
