I bought a 2013 Traverse from here and also bought a warranty with the car. The transmission stated slipping so i took it knowing it was under warranty. They came out and said can't find a transmission warranty with the car. The transmission stated slipping so i took it knowing it was under warranty. They came out and said can't find a transmission slip but it's leaking oul from the timing chain cover. ( note i never seen a drop of oil on my white concrete drive way) No problem this was covered by my warranty. Well needless to say transmission was still slipping so I took it back. Now they tell me oh the transmission mount is broke? So that makes it slip only between 2nd and 3rd gear? No don't think so. Then they tell me it was my torque converter and the transmission had to be completely rebuilt! No problem it's under warranty right? No they tell me my warranty only going to cover 2000 of the rebuild but when i was sold the warranty was told it would be completely covered with no deductible!!! Well then it was going to cost me an additional 4500 to have it fixed. I'm so they "fix" and rebuild the transmission but yet when i go to pay its 5600 and they had to eat a 1000 dollars worth of parts? So i pay 5600 warranty paid 2000 and u had to eat 1000 dollars worth of parts? It cost almost 9 grand to rebuild the transmission? I called an actual transmission shop and they said they wouldn't have rebuilt it they would have put a new one in for 4000? Ok so now i go to pick the car up and Tod calls me and tells me to wait a little bit they were driving the car to make sure it was fixed. I get there to pick the car up and its got 3 inches of ice built up on the windshield so how was anybody driving the car? When i left i was gone maybe an hr and the transmission completely stops shifting and i had to drive home in 1st gear at 15 mph so o didn't blow my motor. They come pick it up again and have another week for the valve body? After all said and done i get a 2yr unlimited mile warranty on the new rebuilt transmission!!! I go in to trade the car in and under 2yrs. They only offer me 500 dollars cause they said it had transmission issues!!!! This place is a complete scam and wouldn't my worst enemy there to by a pop off of them!!! The service department isn't worth xxxx and im surprised Chevy even let's them put their name on their business cause it is not a good look at all!!!! More
Kelsey Chevrolet replaced the catalytic converter on my 2018 Chevrolet Traverse on April 28, 2022. I took the vehicle to them for service on May 1, 2024 and was told the catalytic converter was cracked an 2018 Chevrolet Traverse on April 28, 2022. I took the vehicle to them for service on May 1, 2024 and was told the catalytic converter was cracked and the repair would be approximately $2300. I was also told I had an oil pan leak and that repair would be approximately $3600. I was devastated and told them I couldn't address that immediately. I took my vehicle to another mechanic for a second opinion. He confirmed the catalytic converter was cracked but saw absolutely no signs of an oil pan leak. I called Kelsey Chevrolet today and spoke with Steve Nelson, service manager, and was on speaker with TJ also. After sharing this information with them I asked if Kelsey Chevrolet was going to assist in replacing the converter and was told no because it was out of warranty. The original work was done under warranty and TWO YEARS LATER it's cracked again. Makes you think!! As for the oil pan leak I was told their expert mechanic must have tightened things up and that's why my mechanic didn't see it. They said there hadn't been sufficient time for the leak to show. My response - duh, you don't think a month is enough time for a leak to show "if there was a leak". I was asked to contact the service manager when I schedule the next service so he can personally look at the oil pan. As for the converter I was told he would contact Chevrolet to see if there was anything they would be willing to do. Needless to say I will be having my mechanic fix the converter so it will be done right and thankfully there really is no oil pan leak!! BE AWARE!!!!!!!! More
Unfortunately I've had way to much experience with the dealers' service department. Most recent it was in for an electronic issue that was "fixed" and still is an ongoing issue. dealers' service department. If you have a parent and they are elderly you need to read this review, and be cautious. Went in in January of 2023 to look at a truck that I saw on the internet. The truck was in great shape and the pr read this review, and be cautious. Went in in January of 2023 to look at a truck that I saw on the internet. The truck was in great shape and the price was average. I decided to buy the truck jointly with my mother as I am her Full durable power of attorney, she lives with me, and would need a 4wd if we got alot of snow, they were fine with it and that's where it started going downhill. First off our salesman (Ken) offered to take $500 off the price of the truck and wrote the new price on the deal sheet. When he brought the sheet back in the $500 was back in the price. They gave me a site unseen trade in price of $2000 for my mother's freestar, I was extremely transparent about it and when I got there they changed the amount to $1500 because the battery didn't hold charge and check engine light turned on. Keep in mind they honored my POA for checking credit and allowing the trade in. Also this truck was in really really good condition compared to others I had looked at. Now comes the fun part they had tried to get me to take the truck home that night which I refused, the next day I was told the only way they would honor the POA is if my mother came in and physically signed in front of them (ILLEGAL under IRC title 30-5-9-9) they then tried to blame the denial on Huntington bank which I have the approval letters for both of us and Huntington knows denial of a POA comes with very steep punishment to deter companies from refusing them. They also under the same statute have 10 days to send a letter stating why they refused to honor a fully legal and certified POA, no letter sent and furthermore there are only 3 acceptable reasons to refuse it under Indiana law (principal is deceased, have documentation that it has been rescinded, or timeline is lapsed) none apply. So it was sold to me at a higher interest rate, shorter term, and my mother was not allowed to take any ownership of the vehicle, but remember they accepted the POA for trade in. No matter what their intent was they have a duty under the law to adhere to the law and notify both parties why POA wasn't accepted. They were my only point of contact not Huntington bank (though Huntington bank did tell me they didnt and dont refuse properly executed POAs) so the duty to notify as well as get that POA accepted falls on them. I talked with Walt Kelsey then had 1 round of phone tag then crickets, then emailed Mike Kelsey to get a resolution and crickets. So here we are a year later and they could care less. I have a complaint opened with the Indiana Attorney Generals office and will be sending all of that paperwork in shortly. I tried letting them do the honorable thing and not make it public, but that ship has sailed, possibly an ADA violation as well. More
