AVOID THIS SERVICE DEPT LIKE THE PLAGUE! Purchasing a car here was a positive experience but unless you are doing a warranted service - DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR SERVICE!!! First, it is VERY difficult to get an appointment, second their costs are just about double that of outside mechanics, and third, they are dishonest and do not communicate. I brought my car in for a tune up and the costs were highway robbery. They proceeded to give me a list of "additional repairs" needed that were hilariously overpriced. They also broke off 3 wheel studs and lug nuts while working on my car, and then tried say they needed to fix them and the cost to me would be $450. In contrast, I had Valvoline break one wheel stud and they fixed it at their cost. I tired to follow up with the service manager by phone and email a few times and never got a response. They do not care. It is all about $$ and they will rob you every moment they can. I was planning to buy another Subaru next year, but this dealership is 100% off my list for ANYTHING now. More

I have had multiple cars for over 14 years - I never had this bad service. They are not reachable - very hard to schedule service. Do not call back when they say they will call back. It’s been two month since I have been trying to get my car fixed. Struggle is still ongoing. I will probably not buy Subaru again due to service experience. More

The service department is a complete mess and totally incompetent when it comes to basic appointments and communication. As a result I 1) had to visit the dealer twice in two days to replace my brake pads and 2) waited six days to replace a tire and spent an extra $150 that would have been covered by the dealer had I gone to Frank Subaru instead. In particular, Cheyne at the service department was so laughably unhelpful and difficult to contact that I had more success working with Williams Subaru in Lansing, Michigan. It would probably be less hassle and frustration to literally drive 2000 miles away for service than it would be to ever use Kearny Mesa Subaru again. More

The turbo was changed bu Do not have your Subaru serviced here. In July 2018 I had the turbo on my 2005 outback xt changed because it was burning oil. The turbo was changed but the oil was not. 1000 miles into a road trip and the check engine light came on. It was for a clogged oil line leading to the engine sure enough caused by burnt contaminated oil. I tried to talk to the service manager in August twice on phone and once in person with no avail. I was only able to reach the service adviser who claimed that the oil was burnt out the exhaust and would not affect the oil left in the vehicle. Knowing this isn't true I tried to get something done by working with Subaru of America. Kearny Mesa Subaru told Subaru of America that they tried reaching out to me on multiple occasions all of which were false. After 3 months of trying to reach the service manager through Subaru of America I finally had to go into his office and demand something be done. I was denied goodwill service. I've had multiple other Subaru service managers tell me that this was an issue on their end that the oil should have been changed. The turbo replacement was over two thousand dollars and would have happily payed an extra thirty dollars for four liters of oil. I'm now having to sell the car I love for scrap because I cant afford an engine rebuild. Avoid Kearny Mesa Subaru like the plague. More

They lack the ability to communicate effectively with customers about status of vehicle and loaner. Timely is not a characteristiv of this place. What takes others an hour they will do in five hours and probably not get it done. They push the problem onto the customer and lie. Will never, ever use them again. Had to pay for Uber to get to and from work and dealership because of their poor communication skills and inability to work with us to get a loaner. When else finally got the car there was no apology or explanation. However we were told "I owe u a carwash because our machines r down.". xxx More
