I took in my car for warranty service. I dropped it off a day early and had to wait 40 minutes before I was able to drop it off. Someone finally took me into the service writer area after he saw me waiting for so long. The service writer said that whoever checked me in did not put something in the computer that said that I was waiting? It was weird because no one else was in there. Anyway the service writer said that if this isn't warranty service then it will cost me $300 for the diagnostic after I had waited for 40 minutes. I expected the writer to have a bit more empathy after I waited for so long or maybe even to say that he'd work on not charging me for the diagnostic after I had waited so long. I told him that it felt like Kia wanted to not cover my warranty and he said that they would if it were under warranty and that he'd get paid either way? He said that he'd let me know by noon on Tues (my service appointment was 8 am Tues) and noon came and went on Tues 1/20. I sent a message around 2 pm and he called me to say that the repair was covered and the car would be done on Thurs. It was done Thursday which is why this review got two stars. I don't know if I'll return here for service. More

This review is regarding the service department. This was my third Kia, and this experience ensured it will be my last. My 2020 Kia with just 47k miles (2nd owner) suffered a catastrophic engi This was my third Kia, and this experience ensured it will be my last. My 2020 Kia with just 47k miles (2nd owner) suffered a catastrophic engine failure, a known issue. To be clear, the service representative was courteous and stated he advocated on my behalf. Despite providing maintenance records, I was accused of improper maintenance, and the service department, the district manager and KIA corporate denied any goodwill coverage while presenting a $12,000 engine replacement quote as my only option. My vehicle was at Kia Kearny Mesa for 3 months. As a repeat Kia customer, even a partial goodwill offer would have acknowledged both the issue and customer loyalty, but no such effort was made. There was no meaningful advocacy, no clear explanation for the denial beyond the maintenance allegation, and no attempt to reach a reasonable resolution. After reviewing the final invoice and photos, my independent mechanic advised that the diagnostic charges and proposed engine teardown costs appeared excessive and inconsistent with Bureau of Automotive Repair guidance. This further confirmed my decision not to proceed with repairs through the dealership. If you are considering Kia for long-term ownership, be aware that repeat customers appear to receive little consideration when serious mechanical issues arise. This experience permanently ended my relationship with Kia. More
