I almost never leave reviews, good or bad but my experience so far with Lucas Ford needs to be communicated. My hope is that they see this review and act. Before I go into the review, I do have to say that the folks there (except for sales) have been amazing to work with. All are extremely nice and easy to work with. In May'24, I brought my 18 Explorer Sport in for an airbag light issue (Fault detected in the second row driver's side seatbelt inflator circuit) that was previously repaired under warranty in Feb'24. I thought that since the original issue was covered under warranty, they would re-diagnose and fix it since it was related. For context, my vehicle was under warranty until Mar'24 (I believe) and is now out of warranty. After they diagnose the issue, they state that since the vehicle is out of warranty and that another part had failed, I needed to pay almost $1000 for the repair even though the issue was related to the issue back in Feb'24. I declined the repair and asked what part failed. They tell me it's the "inflatable seat belt deployment control", part number DB5Z-7861203-BE. I look up the part number and the part can be ordered from any Ford parts department for about $250. I figured I can do the repair myself. When I pick up the vehicle, I asked for the error code which they gave me, B141B. Looking up that error code online (Google) shows that this error is a known issue with Ford and points repair technicians to a TSB (TSB 16-0001 (Air Bag Warning Light Illuminated With DTC B141B and/or B141C)). This TSB explains that the fix for the error code was to basically give some slack to a wiring harness under the seat in order to ensure that the cabling wasn't too tight. The cabling being too tight was causing the connectors in the harness to pull out enough to not make contact, thus giving the error. I performed the service the TSB described myself and the vehicle is back to normal. I'm not sure what the service tech were thinking but charging me almost $1000 for a repair that should have been 5 minutes and taken care of as a customer courtesy is NOT GOOD BUSINESS!!! Don't even get me started on the fact that in Feb'24 when I did take the vehicle in for the repair, they FORGOT to change the oil that rotate the tires that I had paid for. To their credit, I went back the next day and they did change the oil without issue. Overall, I've had a really poor experience with both the sales and service departments at Lucas Ford. It's a shame as the service department folks are really nice. Not so much for the sales department. More
I have recieved a military discount before for service. The woman at the front desk just said nobody has ever asked her that before and wouldn't at least go check and find out. The service was done within the time frame but when I picked up my car, my check engine light was on which was not on when I dropped it off! I find this to be a scam since I brought my car in for a factory recall which was of no cost to me so now they are trying to make money off me for something they did! More
