Misdiagnosis of problem that would have cost me $1300 I brought my vehicle in for service due to a “charging system” alert that appeared on my dash. When the service writer called to explain my issue and I brought my vehicle in for service due to a “charging system” alert that appeared on my dash. When the service writer called to explain my issue and that it was “guaranteed the alternator,” to which I asked how much for the repair. After learning how expensive the repair was I decided to pay the diagnoses charge and install the alternator on my own being a very hands on owner. After completing the replacement using a genuine Ford motorcraft alternator the issue remained. Then, because the issue remained and I did not have anymore time or facilities to complete the troubleshooting of the electrical system on my vehicle I decided to bring it in to another Ford dealership’s service department. Within two hours the mechanic at Bill Kay found the trouble in the wire harness from the positive on the battery to the leads. I am pissed off as I paid for an honest diagnosis and found that I was sold only the mechanics “time.” More
