Hello, I am the salesperson involved in this transaction. My name is Warren B. and I helped this gentleman out with his Civic SI. When this instance occurred I was contacted by Shankska. I immediately checked to see what my dealership could do to help. There was not very much that we could do because the clutch of a vehicle is a wear item, it's the same as if a seat becomes worn down because it is sat in, there is nothing we can do to fix that. I know the Honda Service manager here in town so I called and asked him if he could do the work at a discounted rate for a friend of mine. He complied, and informed me that this happens pretty frequently in Civic SI's because of the shift pattern. Coming from 6th gear a lot of people miss 5th gear and put it right into 3rd gear. This service manager said that he imagined this is what caused the incident. I called Shankska and told him that I would split his towing charge to have it towed to the Columbia Honda store to have the work done at a discounted rate. I was willing to pay for this out of my own pocket, completely separate from the dealership, as a friend. After all of this corroboration with Shankska I have not heard from him since this offer to help him. I do not see what more could have been done on my part, and I appreciate the opportunity to share what happened. Thanks.

I appreciate Warren B's help in this transaction, but I understand it was not his fault. This is a review about the dealership Joe Machens Toyota. They refused to help me in this situation and I am appreciative of Warrens "personal" help. However, he only insisted on paying for half the towing, which would have been around $200, for a $1000 repair in Columbia compared to a $650 repair in Kansas City. Also, if someone would shift from 6th gear to 3rd gear it has nothing to do with the clutch, it would throw your rods in the engine and blow the engine so that is not the case. I owned the car for 3 weeks and 1k miles and the clutch went out. I now have a new clutch for 5 months and 8k miles. It was obvious abuse from the previous owner.
