What should our expectations be in terms of the length of time it takes for an express oil change? Our experience t Joe Machens Service Department with four oil changes, on our RAM 1500 it has taken up to two hours or more. Yesterday it took close to an hour and fifty minuets for an oil change and speed control update. I made arrangements for these two things to be done over a month ago. I was told it would take about one hour. I also scheduled a VA Medical appointment, based on being told these two services would take about one hour. I was there at 9:45 AM allowing extra time for the service. I reminded the Service Writer that I had a 11:30 AM appointment. I was told that's no problem and I would be out long before that. The RAM was not done until 11:35 AM. No one even told us it was taken longer, or why. I am a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran. I am handicapped. I come to Columbia mainly for my VA Medical appointment. Often the VA Medical appointments are made months in advance. Speciality Clinics are booked many months in advanced, being on time is a must. This time it was for a pre opt surgery scheduled for the next day. I take extra effort in coordinating my calendar to assure there is sufficient time for service work and oil changes to be done with plenty of time while we are in Columbia. I purposely schedule maintenance on our 2017 RAM 1500 to be done in the mornings, and VA Medical appointments in the afternoon. When the service writer says the RAM should only take so long, I always allow for extra time in case there is some sort of a time problem. Forty five minutes is how much longer it took beyond what we were told it would take. I think someone should have told us it was taken longer, this makes a person feel valued as a customer As a rule before I come in for service, I call the Service Department ask about how much time I should allow for the service to take. I allow almost double the time frame I am told for the service to be done. This gives us plenty of time between our appointments. We make sure the service writer knows our time frame, and should there be not enough time we can come back at a later date on our next Columbia trip. When we first got our RAM on October 11, our tires were out of round, three times we had to return for problem to be fixed, Because someone did not fill the tires with the correct air pressure, we had a serious issue. We got our RAM just as your service department was closing. On our way home 100 miles away our RAM was bouncing bad. I had to find a safe place to pull over on the free way. Two tires had 55 pounds of air in two tires, and two 32 pounds air pressure.. One tire was missing the cap on the stem. I am handicapped and this was quite difficult for me. We are trying to overlook these issues but we need to see more attention being paid to some of these details. The print out for my oil change yesterday, the mileage is totally wrong! The invoice says 14,994 miles. That was mileage for oil change done on 6/1/18. My actual mileage was about 20984, or there about. This is frustrating to say the least. We struggle to understand how this happened, all we ask is please, to correct and send us a new invoice. do not understand this at all. There are three other RAM dealer closer to me that Joe Machens. One dealer is 35 miles away from my home, and that dealer washes your vehicle every time you have service work done. One dealer in Jefferson City we bought four trucks from. I think it's always best to have service work done where you bought the vehicle. I have purchased two vehicles from Joe Machens. Our desire is to continue to allow you to service our RAM. There needs to be some closer attention to detail on the Service Writers part, especially in giving a little better information as to how long service will take and giving an accurate invoice when leaving. We expect that a new correct invoice will be mailed to us soon. Except for the tire pressure problem, we are pleased with the Service Department. Unless we address these problem issues, you do not know what needs improvement. We care enough to express our concerns where improvement is needed. Your's truly, Michael & Catherine Fahrer More
