Churlish / Rude Salesmen and Managers I am currently, as we speak, in negotiations with this dealership for a low-mileage Lincoln. They don't appear to want to sell the car. Several of the salesmen have treated me poorly, as has the F&I manager, who seems to think that just because I've recently completed a bankruptcy, I'm unable to negotiate or afford a good price on a luxury car. The F&I manager has told me that the only bank who'll finance me is Santander, and that it comes with a $5,000 down payment, which I could actually do. However, when I ran the numbers, the only way I could get the payment as high as what was quoted is if only $2500 of that went toward the vehicle...meaning that Santander must have some kind of origination fee for the other $2,500. I specifically asked him if it had an origination fee, and he said it did not. No one has given me a definitive answer on that. I've talked to both the salesman and the manager, both of whom have told me that they aren't bonded to discuss finance issues over the phone for privacy reasons. Fine. I told them I wasn't coming in or getting a cashier's check for my bank until I spoke to the F&I manager over the phone, and to have him called me. They've yet to do that. The current salesman I dealt with has also hung up the phone on me twice today, when I refused to commit to wasting my time and going back to their office until they could let me know why their finance numbers were so wonky. Honestly, if the car weren't an excellent price, I would go elsewhere. I dealt with this facility when it was still Reynolds, and the quality of the sales arm has decreased dramatically since it became Joe Cooper several months ago. More
