Bad service experience Water pump went on my Malibu over the weekend. Checked and this was still under warranty. The dealer where I bought the car is 40 miles away so looked Water pump went on my Malibu over the weekend. Checked and this was still under warranty. The dealer where I bought the car is 40 miles away so looked for the closest dealer where I could make a short drive without overheating. Called Monday morning and was told that they were booked full that day but Tuesday would be fine. I made the appointment for 8:00am on Tuesday. Had to drive my wife to work on Monday and take her car to work. On Tuesday I let my work know that I would be in late, topped off the coolant and drove over. They asked if I was waiting and I said that I had no other option. Was told that there were people ahead of me and the car wouldn't be completed until noon. Ok, 4 hours to kill. Waited an hour and a half before the service guy tells me that they wouldn't have time to complete this job today because half of the engine would have to come off and they also don't have the pump. First, I've changed water pumps myself before and they're not "that" intensive and second, finding a pump for a Chevy in the area is as simple as going to any auto parts store or another dealer. I asked when they would have time to replace and was told the following week. I found this ridiculous as I had to travel to work all week and was going to Canada on the weekend. Was told "sorry" but at least we'll top off your coolant. Good luck. Thanks for nothing. Wasted an entire vacation day in the end and still had to chance driving around with a leaking water pump. Purchased some water, just in case, made the trek to Kalmar's Motors, where I bought the car, and was treated professionally. Never heard of a place that schedules an appointment, only to not keep the appointment, only to not even allow enough time to do the work. Basically felt like since I didn't buy the car there that they didn't want to do the work. Would recommend to no one. Not even in a pinch. More
