Absurdingly High Mark-up and Unnecessary Dealer Add-ons You can't get anything close to MSRP or dealer invoice, because Honda doesn't publicize those numbers, so you will never know how much the dealer actu You can't get anything close to MSRP or dealer invoice, because Honda doesn't publicize those numbers, so you will never know how much the dealer actually profits on selling you a car. But with some on-line research and due diligence, you can pretty much figure out the dealer profit range on a Honda. So armed with some knowledge you can get to number range that you're comfortable with for buying a car - I'm not talking about the monthly car payment, but the total cost you're willing to pay. I wasn't looking for a number at or below dealer invoice, but I also wasn't expecting to pay $3,000 - $8,000 over MSRP. This dealership has a reputation of absurd add-on costs - sometimes called PROPACK, which it uses to additionally pad their profit margin. They will not honor any advertised discount rates thru buyer services or the internet. I don't get it why they are rated so high, cause there is absolutely no transparency or honesty in their business dealings. I don't know how Honda lets this dealership sells their vehicles. More

Manager typical used car salesman My salesperson was great. He gets five stars. He was friendly and straight forward. He did exactly what he was supposed to at the time he was supposed to. He wasn't too pushy even though he was trying to close the deal on my first and second visit, which is expected. The management , however was a completely different story. One of them seemed to be trying to bully me into buying the car with statements like " if you put a hold on this car and you die in a car wreck when you leave here we still get our cash." He also made the classic statement "you are getting such a great deal I'm loosing money on this car." Give me a break, if you are loosing money then you are a terrible manager. Then when I wanted to bring a cashiers check and pay for the car I was repeatedly pressured to finance as well as buy the lo jack, the warranty and the tire protection. A string of people rambled on and on about all the extras we could spend money on. This little used car could have cost me thousands of extra dollars. I purchased a "pre-certified" used car. At first I was told this covered bumper to bumper for the first 12 months. And the transmission for 7 years. Only the transmission is really covered the rest cost extra at closing as part of an added warranty for purchase. More

Jim Coleman isn’t among the dealerships close to where I live, but they were open on a Sunday and they had a large inventory of the 20016 Accord I was Jim Coleman isn’t among the dealerships close to where I live, but they were open on a Sunday and they had a large inventory of the 20016 Accord I was looking for, so I knew I could see all of the exterior and interior colors in person. When I met Kean, I let him know that I wasn’t ready to buy. The test drive was free of the typical high pressure tactics designed to glean information and develop sales leads—I actually got to know the car. When I left the lot, I had narrowed my car choices to 2, and had the best test drive ever. I drove away thinking that it was a great experience and that it was too bad that the dealership wasn’t closer to home. I then shifted my focus to dealerships closer to home only to realize that my experience with Kean was not going to be reproduced. At every turn I was pressed for increasing amounts of information, told that my driver’s license needed to be copied before I could go on a test drive (they wanted my contact information), misled about inventory levels, and told that I could not opt out of extras like rust protection or nitro for my tires because the protectant had been applied and the tires had been filled, etc. After a few exhausting rounds of negotiation with other dealers, I got a price that seemed to be a good deal—that felt great, but my experience overall had been very unpleasant--high pressure sales tactics and distrust (on both sides). It then occurred to me that I could go back to Kean Thompson and ask for the same deal. The dealership agreed and I was very happy to drive the extra miles to give my business to someone who had been straightforward. Kean has restored my faith in car salespeople. Dealerships need to make money and buyers need to save money, but the process shouldn’t be so stressful that your excitement over buying a new (or a new-to-you car) is ruined by wondering if you’ve been manipulated or swindled.
