I reached out to James River Ford regarding a 2024 Camry SE and a 2023 Camry SE. I was respectful, clear, and upfront about my interest and budget. The 2024 Camry: the manager, Byron Dunn, only offered a SE and a 2023 Camry SE. I was respectful, clear, and upfront about my interest and budget. The 2024 Camry: the manager, Byron Dunn, only offered a $399 discount, then added a $597 documentation fee, bringing the total above my original target. The 2023 Camry: fully listed online with detailed photos and description, but after I inquired, he said it had been inspected and would be sent to a wholesale auction. Yet it remains on the website, priced above market, and had been in a rear-end accident with unclear damage history. When I respectfully indicated that we couldn’t reach an agreement, Byron responded with a passive-aggressive message: “I apologize if my passion to assist you in purchasing a vehicle for much less than market pricing and below wholesale book values made you uncomfortable.” This felt unnecessary, unprofessional, and not reflective of how a manager should communicate. If you value transparency, professionalism, and clear communication, I would stay clear of Byron Dunn at James River Ford. Negotiating in good faith should not be met with passive-aggressiveness, and this experience was frustrating and disappointing. WEIRD ALLLL AROUND…. More

Manager Zac very unprofessional. Rude and not knowledgeable at all (or just not truthful) regarding Jeep vehicles. I purchased a vehicle there in 2022 and only came back because I lo Rude and not knowledgeable at all (or just not truthful) regarding Jeep vehicles. I purchased a vehicle there in 2022 and only came back because I love my jeep and also loved the staff that helped me then. This time it was a completely different experience with Zac. He did my trade in appraisal. He “low balled” me and when I said something he told me he must have appraised the wrong vehicle and blamed someone else.. He then sent me the prelim paperwork on it with the wrong vehicle. After he figured out it was wrong vehicle (when I told him) he changed my trade in value. He was very rude and definitely not good at communicating. Not a people person. He is a prime example of why car salesmen get bad raps. Not sure I would ever come back after my experience with him, and him alone. I do understand that not everyone can get everything that they want when buying a used car. It’s not the message that he needs to work on, it’s the delivery of the message. VERY CONDESCENDING: I felt badly for my salesman, Hunter. He worked very hard to show me everything and explain all her could. Very accommodating. But he almost lost a sale due to the terrible experience I had with Zac. If I were a salesman and had to bring Zac out, I would be very careful. A good manager (especially in your business) can make or break a salesman’s year. If you are in sales you must do better, Zac.
