Malcontent I changed the thermostat housing in my Range Rover Sport. When the thermostat housing is changed it requires the system to be bleed off. I called Jaguar Land Rover of Memphis service department and ask for a quote to get the work performed. The Service Writer told me that the service would be a $176 charge. I had my vehicle towed there to have them perform the work. It was late in the evening so they could not get the work performed that day. The Service Writer said he would call me the following day. The next day I got a call from the Service Writer stating that my Radiator had a pin whole it and they could not bleed the system without replacing the radiator. He told me to change out the Radiator it would cost ~1800 dollars. After I pulled myself up off the floor I decided to call other certified Land Rover Service Providers in Memphis to compare pricing. I called two locations to make sure I had a good sample and both gave me a price of ~$900. I called back to Jaguar Land Rover of Memphis and shared this information with the service provider and asked why would there be such a price difference. He only said he would have to see their quote before he could give the answer. I have always been told to never take your vehicle back to the dealer for service because you will always get ripped off. In the past, I resisted this statement and continued to take my vehicle to the dealership for service and maintenance. After this event, I am inclined to believe I have been getting ripped off the entire time. I just happened to compare pricing this time. I can understand maybe a 15% difference in cost but never in a million years I would have thought the price difference would be 100% higher. I called the General Manager to try to discuss this with him but he did not return my call. I just purchased a brand-new Range Rover in January of this year from this dealership. Even though the sales experience was good, I cannot help to believe that I will continue to get poor service from the service department. It is sad that when you entrust your vehicle to the OEM dealership to find that you may be overcharged excessively. When I had someone to retrieve my vehicle from the Service Department, Chad told him to “have a nice month” I am assuming that was his way of saying he did not want to see us again. Very Very dissatisfied!!!!! More

He never fails to respond and find a way to accommodate my schedule and transportation needs. He details and explains the need and cost of repairs and has the fore thought to advise when maintenance is needed so that I can plan for the expense. No matter the issue, I know when I speak to Dane, I'll get the appropriate information for which to make a decision about servicing my car. My rating of the dealership is largely predicated on the high quality of Dane's customer service. He is the prototype for Service Advisors at a quality dealership. Deb More
