This was at no cost to you and was done as a courtesy to keep you apprised of what the warning light was signifying. Julie, we truly are sorry to hear of your disappointment in our loaner system. We do our best to honor as many requests for loaners as we can. Service visits often outnumber our fleet of loaners, and we understand that it can be frustrating. Depending on the type of service your vehicle needs, and what a technician may find and need to do while working on the vehicle, true work time can deviate from an estimated service time. We apologize for that and hope that your service advisor kept you apprised of the work and any delay that was needed to make sure your vehicle’s service was completed appropriately. Concerning your request for information, we’d love to learn more about what information is needed. I’ll have a manager reach out to you for that. While we don’t have a cookout for the 4th of July, we do happily celebrate Memorial Day with family, customers, and guests, but do keep the shop open for business so that technicians can continue to work on vehicles, especially for customers who are waiting in the lounge. While we wish we could honor your request, as we are a small market with a large service demand, we do not have the courtesy vehicle inventory that allows us to give a courtesy vehicle to every customer. Similar to other high demand industries, our policy allows us to meet the demand and give priority to recurring customers. Tinomedina, We are sorry to hear of your disappointment in your Sprinter van. In your original service visit of October 1st, 2021, the 2020 Sprinter van already had 124,000 miles on it and it needed a turbo replacement. Your van obviously was out of warranty at 124,000 miles and we replaced the turbo according to Mercedes-Benz Sprinter specifications at customer pay. In the following 18 months, you put another 167,000 miles on the van and according to Mercedes-Benz, visited only two other Mercedes-Benz dealerships for service. The van, now at 291,000 miles and only 4 years old, has common maintenance issues for a vehicle with that level of usage, and especially if only 2 service visits occurred during extreme mileage over a short period of time. Upon returning the van to our dealership, we discovered that your wiring harness was in need of repair and we were able to replace that plus the turbo under the parts warranty for the turbo we installed in 2021. Upon completing the repair, which included repair to an exhaust leak, due to normal wear and tear on a 300k mileage vehicle, it was discovered that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) was completely clogged, again due to normal wear and tear on a high mileage diesel vehicle, which we diagnosed to be the true cause of the turbo failure. In order to get the Sprinter running normally, the DPF will need to be replaced. On top of that, the van has considerable damage to the exterior including windshield, tail lights, body panels, and undercarriage. Regular maintenance is a must for any vehicle, and especially one that is put to such lengths over a short period of time. While we understand your frustration with the needed large repairs, the cause of these repairs was due to high mileage usage and lack of regular maintenance.
